Default Cary Grant centennial

Dude, a hundred years since Cary Grant was born today! A local art-house cinema is showing a free screening of Charade tonight, and I'm totally there. Is anybody else doing anything similar or am I the only insane fanboy here?

North by Northwest is indeed great, but I believe Ray Milland starred in Dial M. They don't look entirely un-similar though.

But he starred in Notorious, right? Which - although not as good as North By Northwest - is brilliant as well.

For us lucky Americans, Turner Classic Movies (cable TV) is showing nothing but Cary Grant movies all day and all night. All uncut and commercial free... some of them even letterboxed.

Of course, that's on opposite the championship games of the two NFL conferences....

Yeah, that's one of my favorite performances.

Also, too bad I don't have TCM, I'd tape all the movies. :~

Commercial free? What the...? Are movies on the US TCM always commercial-free, or is this just for today?

TCM Europe has ads every 40 minutes. Annoying - otherwise, a very worthwhile channel! (And the only movie channel I have.)

AMC (American Movie Classics) used to be commercial free. They updated their catalog a few years ago and went to including commercials (as bad as WTBS) a few years ago, but then along came TCM, which is always commercial free. Unless you count commercials for TCM itself in between movies. TCM movies are always completely uncut/uncensored as well, and frequently shown in letterbox and/or restored versions.

It is Ted Turner making up for his colorization sins of the 80's.
