Don't Look Now's about an architect and his wife, who's daughter died via drowning in a river, and she was in a bright red raincoat. They move to Italy (Venice or Rome, I think) where the husband is working on a church and they meet a blind lady that has ESP and sees the daughter that died, etc etc.

I saw it together with my first boyfriend, I think I was 16 or 17. I scare easily and was in hysterics afterwards. Even to this day I refuse seeing it or even hear the sounds of it. My husband watched it on TV a couple of years ago and he had to keep the volume down so that I wouldn't hear any of it.

I can't imagine that they put "Wizard of Oz" and "Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory" in there, even if there might be parts that could scare kids. If I talk about a scary movie, I talk about the whole movie, and not a single part of it. Also, I never saw "Phantom of the Opera", but I never imagined it as being too scary (a bit creepy maybe). -

I remember watching The Exorcist and just being bored .
Mind you, that may have had something to do with my father wandering in and saying Spoiler:about five minutes before that scene occurred. |

Like I said, the scariest part for me in The Exorcist was the old lady sitting on the bed bathed in bright white light. lol.

And then a figure in a red coat runs out from a tree behind him and then dissappears behind a tree behind him, just as Tim turns around... All through-out Don't Look Now, Donald Southerland's character see a similar figure in a red coat whom he believes to be his deceased daughter... He eventually give chase and corners her at the top of an old building an tells her "It's OK... You're safe now".... The figure turns around and then......... |

Yes you should watch it. It's a tad dated but I for one really enjoyed it. And while you're at it see the other three early Nic Roeg films: Walkabout (1971), The Man Who Fell to Earth (1977), and Bad Timing (1980). All are underappeciated classics in my opinion. Roeg was a cinematographer before he debuted as a director with Performance, so appropriately his photography is fantastic, intense. And he does some wonderful things with montages, and sex scenes.

I remember Linda Blair pissing herself in front of lots of people, and then wanking off with a crucifix. It was a pretty funny film.

When I was in my late 20's or early 30's I was visiting my parents. The Exorcist came on and my mom wouldn't let me watch it.

Man they'd never show that movie (or that scene at least) to 14-year-olds here. I'm not sure I'd have appreciated it as a freshman though.
You should rewatch it. |

If it's ever on telly I might give it a watch. I'll have a look out for those other films you listed too, I've heard of the Man Who Fell To Earth, but no idea what it's about.
