Captain August featuring Manny Calavera

Well, Captain August aficionados know of course that the elevator droid character in the cast bears a striking resemblance to Manuel Calavera from Hollywood blockbuster hit Grim Fandango, but so far he always stayed on the background. So as not to provoke a certain company from sueing my butt off. Well, to hell with that.

The current Cap August episode is all about him. Don't expect huge things, just enjoy this nice little episode and reminisce back to that wonderful piece of escapism that came to our shores in 1998.

Wow, REALLY nice art style there Flux, I'm not exactly a frequent reader but I will be from now on!

Oh man, that really takes me back, it's so spot-on the only thing missing is cigar smoke (well, and a cigar, but I won't hold that against you

Leaving out the cigarette was a conscious decision. Although I detest smoking in real life, I really don't have anything against using it in pop culture or movies as a style icon. However, I couldn't bring myself to put it in Captain August.

It's just that it suits Manny so perfectly in that setting

I'm a heavy smoker myself but I can see why you left it out, no biggie, doesn't detract from the comic's awesomeness
