*sniff* The crying thread
My mum just texted me saying that my poor kitty Bali died - ran over by a car. I am so sad now... *sniff*

That sucks, sorry Mira. I had a ginger cat a while back (rather imaginatively called Ginger) who just went missing one day, never seen him since. A lot of people said 'Ah, just get another cat', but they don't realise how attached you can get to your pets, and how they've got personalities all of their own. He used to wait up for me when I had nights out, and munch on my fried chicken and kebabs when I stumbled home Hope you feel better soon, have lots of beer/vodka/wine in the meantime.

Oh, Mira - I'm sorry! Do cry if you feel like it. You need to mourn this precious pet of yours. And don't let anyone tell you that "It's only a cat!" No one who's had a pet die could ever feel that way. Pets are such wonderful friends who always love you, no matter what happens.

Thank you, seebsie and FGM. I don't want to appear pathetic, but I feel awful. A friend gave me that cat and I've promised to look after her well. Plus I wanted that cat so that she could keep my mum company while I'm away here in Moscow because I am so worried about my mum feeling lonely by herself, what's with all her daughters are all in college. My mum loves Bali so much. What made me feel terribly sad was the way my mum texted me... she sounded so sad. I hate it when my mum feels sad. And I'm so far away from her.

I know how you must be feeling. I just came upstairs from the rabbit and bunny cage, where I discovered that Walze, the elder of our two guinea pigs (he was the father of the other guinea pig), is dead. I am crying a little right now. Of course we knew he would die soon, for he was a ripe age for a guinea pig already, and he had been eating little the last two days (he used to be the first at the food, and he would not let anything distract him from his eating. The other's might scatter when someone walked past, but he would not move an inch.), but it still hurts. My family and I will never forget Walze.
It's always hard to loose a pet, and I am truly sorry that you had to lose a beloved pet in this way. I hope you feel better soon. Bali and Walze are in a better place now, even though it hurts to let them go. -

Mira, call back home ASAP so that they WON'T just bury your cat anyplace - it ought to be buried in the local Pet's Sematary. There is always a second chance, you know!
(maybe 8 more chances if it is a cat) ok, seriously, try to look at the bright side: it was at least as quick as anybody can wish for; much better than a looong painful illness.

The Thread™ will die.

My condolances. One of the only nice things about not having a pet anymore is not having to deal with things like these ...

I hope my mum is all right on her own, though. No one to comfort her. I just know my mum feels a lot more terrible about it than I do. I'm so worried.

I'm so sorry I used to think cats almost never get hit by cars but to hear you it's so sad I know how you feel, I've lost many a pet myself. May he/she rest in piece.

Read my sig, everyone. I know how incredibly heavy and profound a loss can be, whether it's a pet or someone you truly loved. Cry your eyes out, cry until you feel too limp to cry anymore. And then dedicate your future happiness and goodness to Bali. That's the legacy. Bali filled your life with happiness and joy, and that's what you must get on with. If you choose to remain sad then Bali will not have fulfilled her purpose in life. Stay happy and giggly and sweet, then pay it forward. xoxo b.

Well, I've just spoken to my mum on the phone, and the surprise phone call definitely cheered her up slightly. She is still feeling sad, though, and she was telling me that she spent the whole day crying over Bali till her eyes are swollen. Mum also told me how lonely she's feeling lately, and it's made even worse with Bali's recent passing. I wish there is some way I could comfort her more, and this distance is only adding to the frustration. Mum was telling me how much she adored Bali and enjoyed her companion and how Bali used to play up to my mum... I was crying as well because I could hear the despair and loneliness from my mum's voice. She's buried Bali next to her favourite bougainvillea tree in our garden.
But by the time we finished talking, mum was feeling a lot better than before, though I still wish that I could do something more for her. Btw mum discovered that it was the neighbour who ran over poor Bali. *sighs* Thanks everybody for all your kind words.

I feel sorry for your mom and for you. I don´t think anyone can imagine how sad it is to lose a pet until you´ve been there.
