He really took his puppy's* death (Ruby) very hard. It seemed like he didn't visit much after that.

*puppy is what I call any dog regardless of age..

I'll admit it - I cried because of a cat earlier. I don't do that kind of thing. I gave it a stroke on the way to the shop and on the way back up the hill (it was quite a slog) it lept at me from under a car meowing for attention.

So what if it's over his cherished pet dog or over a family member who died? NEVER, EVER trivialize the emotional trauma of someone who has experienced one kind of loss or another in their lives.
