The Drama of 2006. - My Sister gets ripped off from weeks work of full time work!
2006 hasent been that kind to my family lately... My sister came home in tears after she found out that her manager took her off the system a week before the con tract ended, so she cant get her pay for that week, and she badly needed the money to keep her going for the things shes bought. And she doesnt want to grovle for money from my parents, so she was extremely upset. I've given her the little money I have spare, I gave her 50 pounds which is around 100 bucks to help her with some small things. I dont work full time so I dont have much money.

Doesn't that defeat the purpose of a contract? Did she already work that week? What are the terms? Can her manager really do that? It's time for another session of the AG Justice Squad! Previously we advised Stoofa on her iPod Nano she won in a contest, and emerged victorious. What say you?

Tell her to hot foot it to citizens advice and see what they say.
If she worked the week or had a contract signed to the end of that week she is entitled to payment.

Shes going back to work to try and sort it out because they told her as soon as she was leaving to catch the buss. Why does everyone want to rip everyone off.

It seems like some managers can't do their jobs. Some of the people who are over my dad, mom or sister seem to make the most idiotic decisions.
I hope she stands up for herself and gets what she deserves for that week. That's a rip off! Good luck to her. |

Do you have like a pro bono lawyers association there? Tell your sister to call them, she can get legal advice for free. She may have to bring in her copy of the contract for them to look over, and they may want some sort of proof that she did work that last week.
I used to do freelance work and while I never had to take anybody to small claims court, I did have to threaten a few. Some people will take advantage of you if you let them. Interestingly enough, the people who tried to get out of paying me were all men. I think they thought that since I was young and female I would be too intimidated to do anything about it. |

I agree with Stoofa, convince her that her boss is at fault and that she can definately do something about it, small claims courts tend to rule in favor of the employees most of the time, at least in the Netherlands. Good luck, and good day from the AG Justice Squad*!

I guess the manager thought she could get away with it, but Im sure she will fork out the money, its just so cruel, did she plan to steal that money or something?
