From Jethro Tull:
Up The 'Pool I'm going up the 'Pool from down the smoke below to taste me mum's jam sarnies and see our Aunty Flo. The candy floss salesman watches ladies in then sand down for a freaky weekend in the hope that they'll be meeting Mr. Universe. The iron tower smiles down upon the silver sea and along the Golden Mile they'll be swigging mugs of tea. The politicians there, who've come to take the air, while posing for the daily press will look around and blame the mess on Edward Pier. There'll be buckets, spades and bingo, cockles, mussels, rainy days, seaweed and sand castles, icy waves, deck chairs, rubber dinghies, old vests, braces dangling down, a suntanned stranded starfish in a daze. Oh, Blackpool, Oh, Blackpool. Just in case that helps, at all. Mike |

Manchester!!
No challenge. My girlfriend is from Blackpool, she wouldn't recommend it, but we sure as hell would recommend Manchester. Though, then, Blackpool might've improved since she was last there... ...and best do your visit from the 23rd to the 26th this month and meet up with me and BoyToy

Manchester is a great city, though more for its nightlife and shopping than sightseeing. In fact I can't think of many 'sights' as such - it has a few great museums and some nice architecture, but that's about it. The city centre is absolutely jam-packed with bars, clubs and restaurants of all kinds, including the famous "gay village" centred on Canal Street. There is a very large student population, handy for the young-at-heart as you seem to be, Scott! The people are less friendly than in Liverpool by reputation, but to be honest I think they're pretty similar. It also has the busiest bus route in Europe, now there's a random fact for you. |
