No Doubt did three excellent albums, with loads of great songs, they have done great cover versions too. You might not have listened to:
  • The Beacon Street Collection
  • Tragic Kingdom
  • Return to Saturn

so judging a band by a few singles(probably just a girl, don't speak, hella good, hey baby), is probably not wise, considering how unrepresentative of the band that is, however, rip into those as much as you want.

My albums of the year:
1. The Woods - Sleeter-Kinney
2. Eye To The Telescope - KT Tunstall
3. Get Behind Me Satan - The White Stripes
4. Down In Albion - Babyshambles
5. Taller In More Ways - Sugababes

You can pan me for number 5.

No you're not.

Sorry Mel

Has anyone noticed that the beginning of "Your Beautiful" is a rip off from the old Incredible Hulk Tv theme

The only album I bought for myself this year was "Language. Sex. Violence. Other?" by the Stereophonics.

You have no reason to be sorry.

I've only got their second album. The one with the kissing couple on the cover... What's it called again? Weee, it's been a while.

Has anybody heard the new Nada Surf album? I have some catching up to do, and since Christmas is just around the corner..

When I first played X&Y by Coldplay I thought I had the DVD player stuck on 'repeat one track'.

I can't believe Speed of Sound won MTV song of the year (well actually I can I mean its MTV after all) and the acceptance speech went something like "we haven't won much praise for song writing in a while so this means a whole lot"... I interpret that as "we write the same song over and over so its funny to win something like this... again".

Many good records have been released this year.

1. Thyrfing - Farsotstider / Opeth - Ghost Reveries
I can't decide which one's the best. They're both masterpieces.

2. Primordial - The Gathering Wilderness
The lads have made another great record. Pure darkness and melancholy.

3. Rammstein - Rosenrot
Their previous two albums are their best ones ever and the latest one carries on the great tradition. This time with more rock then techno. There are some really great teardripping ballads on this record.

4. Behemoth - Demigod (although technicly it came out in 2004)
This is extreme metal at its best. The absolutely best live-band I have ever seen too.

5. Kent - Du och jag döden
Now they go back to their roots. If you like pop-music (forget Coldplay) then check this out. I've heard that they have released their albums in english too (but I haven't actually listened to those versions).

6. Grand Magus - Wolf's Return
This must become a classic in Doom Metal. This time with more metal then on previous records.

7. Sentenced - The Funeral Album
To bad that this is their last album ever. The irony is that the album that came before this one is actually one of their best. So this is a disapointment in that regard but still a great album.

8. Queens Of The Stone Age - Lullabies To Paralyze
Not the best music there is IMO, but this album got a few really good songs.

+ all the ones I've forgot and the ones I haven't had the time to listen to yet.

Meh, I'm going to sound lame for saying it, but Depeche Mode's new album (Playing the Angel) came out this year and I thought it was pretty good. I can't really think of anything else that came out this year that I liked though.

The mashup of Green Day's album American Idiot was pretty good, but they were forced by the RIAA to take it off their website, so now you can only find it on torrents and stuff (American Edit)

I don't tend to buy new albums all that often, but -

Engineers - Engineers
Gorillaz - Demon Days
The Raveonettes - Pretty In Black
Supergrass - Road To Rouen

Think I touched a nerve there. Sorry if I offended you by not liking No Doubt, they're just not my thing, and I have listened to a couple of their albums (although mostly skipped through to be honest). Doesn't help that I was subjected to 'underneath it all' on repeat for a whole week in a hostel I stayed in once
