Default Game Recommendations please for older person

hi

my mum (or mom if youre in the usa ) is in her late sixties, and is shortly upgrading her pc to something half decent.

i want to introduce her to adventure games but am not sure as to what her first taste of this wonderful world should be.

im not concerned over 1st/3rd person comparisons (one of each would be nice!), but i'd say my criteria are:

1. an easy, not too long game
2. simple interface
3. nothing gory or "adult" as a theme (!)
4. no action segments
5. not too taxing puzzles

many thanks for reading

Syberia I & II - definitely, beautiful, not too difficult puzzles, perfect for her

Syberia, yes. I'd also recommend Return to Mysterious Island. Maybe a Nancy Drew game?

Longest Journey comes to mind... although it is four discs.

I second Broken Sword (I think Gabriel Knight is too dark and too hard... that's for later)

I second on Nancy Drew, especially the two most recent instalments: Curse of Blackmoor Manor and The Secret of the Old Clock. It's an easy game to pick up and have puzzles and hints in the game to help the player out.

As easy as Syberia or TLJ is, there are still some tougher puzzles that require logic that may not come easy to one who's new to adventure games.

What about the Agatha Christie game that will soon be out. Or one of the newer Sherlock Holmes games. Maybe she knows those names already from books.
