Default Tony Tough prequel

Sorry if you've already read about this but... Today I recived a pressrelease from a German company about which games they are going to release localized versions of next year. Not interesting at all, I thought at first, but started to read anyway.
They are going to release Tony Tough 2!
The game is a prequel to Tony Tough. Check out our news section (nyheter) over at Deltér Adventures to see a picture that was attached to the pressrelease.
The German version is scheduled for release during Q1 2005.

Hmm, funny thing is, the first Tony Tough was done by an italian company and of course, the first country where it was released was Italy. So, what's the point in releasing first a german version? I mean, maybe an english one would have made sense, but I really can't see how a german version can fit into the work of an italian company.

Not to mention the interview that was done a couple of months ago with the author of Tony Tought, and he never mentioned a sequel.

The point is... a German publisher stepped up. I'd imagine they'd be thrilled to get an English speaking release done, but a publisher's gotta make it happen.

I didn't like much about TT except the graphics, but I'll be curious to see what the devs learned from that game. Thanks for the info, hagstrumpa.

I'm a bit confused. Am I mistaken in coming to the conclusion that this new Tony Tough might be made by another company other than his original? I'm only saying that, because between the Italian/German statements, and the suggestion that the original author had no comments on said game, just lead me to that conclusion.

Possibly wrong, but I'd like a little clarification, if possible.

Easy stuff. Developer will (again) be Prograph. The German publisher for the German version will (again) be dtp. Since TT1 was a huge success in German, the German publisher made up a deal pretty early, especially since the biggest German game exhibition fair (Games Convention) started recently. That's only for the German speaking countries though.

Hmm, it would make sense but a release date of Q1 2005 for a game that wasn't even in development (or at least I never heard of anything) till some days ago? Don't know why, but it still sounds weird.

Anyway if this is true, it's fairly good news for the adventure genre.

I first heard of TT2 being in development about two months ago, and I guess at that time they've probably been further down the road than just ranting about the story during a pint or two at the local pub.

BEEEEP! WRONG!

They are italian, so they would probably rant during a mandolino/pizza/spaghetti/o' sole mio session.

Tony looked old. Anyway, I hope the backgrounds will be a lot better this time. As in, improved.

Its going for $14.99 on Amazon currently, and there's no guarantee that it'll go for any cheaper on eBay. But I guess it all depends on what amount you're holding out for.

I don't trust them neither. I preordered Sam'n'Max 2 many months ago and it hasn't come in yet.

Oops, sorry, I felt a sudden urge to type that. Not intentional.

I played the improved german version of TT but it was a huge disappointement.
Tony Tough is a wack character. I never liked him at all. There is too much talk in the game and the puzzles rarely make sense. It's boring too.

I de-installed the game after I reached the first half and I have no intensions to reinstall it again for the time being. So I don't really look forward to part II.

According to your avatar you like FMV games. Don't you think that others might have a different taste? I personally enjoyed TT ("enjoyed" as in "quite good"), others loved it. I've seen worse games. Far, far worse games.

Default Can't wait for TT2!

I personally think the first Tony Tough was awesome (but the experience was hampered because I either got a defective disc (bought the game used) or something's up with my computer). Great puzzles (slightly illogical at times), hilarious humor (when it didn't fall flat), and superb voice acting. I'm eagerly awaiting the second installment in the series, even though the box art looks a little weird.

btw, I'm new here!

Hello to everyone, just let introduce myself.
My name's Marco Pacifico, Head of development and Lead Programmer at Prograph Research. I noticed your questions and discussion about Tony Tough 2 and wanted to tell you something.
Actually we are working on the game from a few months and made a worldwide deal with DTP. The game will be available in several languages in the beginning of Q2, 2005. Tony will be fully localized in english, german, italian and maybe french, and we hope to have other versions in the near future.
