I'm picturing a dark ally, an unknown assailant and a down on his luck PI who just happens to walk by.

Nope, none of those. Hmm, a clue then. It's from a fairly lonely game, at least during the first half. This line is one of the few words spoken directly to the protagonist during the early parts.

Whoops, I had forgotten about this thread, mainly because I'd been too busy playing superquizmaster! (I know Squinky would recognize this line too, because I used it in "Thread Must Die!" over a year ago. )
It's said by the short lamppost-thingy in The Neverhood. That line makes me chuckle every single time, mostly because of the abrupt way he yells "GO AWAY!" Ahh, reminiscence.

Yes, well done Trunkyo. You're next.
Also, I've always thought it was Willy Trombone speaking. Somehow... through the lamp post... Come to think of it, I was never really able to make sense of it. But it definitely sound like his voice. |

OK, new quote:
"I should tell you right now that I'm not a detective, I'm not a spy, I'm not a leader of the rebel alliance, and I don't run down corridors shooting everything in sight, although I know some otherwise very nice people who do."

Callahan's Crosstime Saloon.
Can't think of any quotes myself so whoever is the first to reply can post the next quote. |

Yeah, that was a fairly easy one (it's Googleable too), so this one will be somewhat harder:
"You are only one of many. Thus go together with thy fellow man, for hope and determination, for belief and destiny, today, tomorrow, forever. Then you will find redemption."

Hey, are you accusing me of cheating!? :p
Just for the record, I did not use Google... not quite lame enough to bother to cheat in threads like these! |

It makes me think of Grim Fandango, something Salvador Limones might have said. No idea if that's it, though.

Could it possibly be Faust and the 7 deadly sins or, think that's the title. I know it's called Faust anyways.

Nope, not Grim Fandango or Faust, this game is much more recent than either of these.

Not from any of these games either. It's a serious game, but with an occasional humorous quip from the two main characters. I'll supply another quote soon.

Not Lost Horizon either. Another quote from the same game:
"Pandora's Box is locked now and you can't find the key, but that will soon change. What will you do with the key when that happens? Will you throw it away?"
