i jsut got my hands on a copy of simon the sorceror. i can play the game perficty fine using scumm Vm but i cant find the options menu to turn down the music and turn up the volume. i also want text with sound. can some one tell what button im not pressing. i've tryed them all

I think you have to set that up before you start the game. When you select the game on the Scumm Vm list, go to options instead of play, that might do it.

From the manual:

Simon the Sorcerer 1 & 2:
Ctrl 0-9 and Alt 0-9 - Load and save game state
Ctrl-d - Starts the debugger
F1 - F3 - Text speed, faster - slower
F10 - Shows all characters and objects you can
interact with
- and + - Music volume, down/up
m - Music on/off
s - Sound effects on/off
b - Background sounds on/off
p - Toggles pause
t - Switch between speech and subtitles
v - Switch between subtitles only and
combined speech & subtitles

You can also switch to the taskbar, go to sound controls, and adjust the sound there. This used to be a bug in AGS' earlier versions.

EDIT: well i can choose between text and vocie, but it wont let me choose both and pause does'nt work

Unfortuntely i don't think you can have both text and speech with Simon under scummvm. If I remember correctly there is a timing issue with the game that means it won't work at the moment (if ever). Unfortunately I can't find exactly where I read that on the scummvm site at the moment. Can anyone back it up?

No, but Simon2 is able to do both text and speech at the same time.
Guess the engine they used got updated..
