Default Loom: where to buy it?

Is there a place where Loom can be had for less than the $70 I see on eBay?

Ironically, I had this game as a kid, only to lose it when my dad moved from one house to another. All the other games survived... only Loom vanished.

As I just picked up another lost classic, Laura Bow: Dagger of Amon-Ra on eBay for about $4 with free shipping, I hoped Loom would be the same way. No dice.

Any help?

Amazon Marketplace has it for $40 for the PC version and $15 for the Mac version. Though the Tacoma Goodwill claims the Mac version they're selling is "IBM compatible." Let the buyer beware.

Amazon Marketplace is a great place to search in addition to eBay. A lot of times you can get stuff cheaper than eBay without the hassle of bidding, and shipping is almost always cheaper than eBay.

I found it on Amazon for just $40. If your willing to pay as much as a new game then go for it!

Never mind, someone got it first

Out of curiosity, would it be possible to play the Mac version on a PC by using ScummVM?

According to the ScummVM compatibility chart, it is possible. However, none of the music or sound effects play, so if you want to hear the music you'd have to get the PC version.

The Mac version has a high-resolution distaff and a hi-res font, but ScummVM doesn't use these and falls back on the original PC interface.
