Worst character in a popular adventure game?
So I am replaying Grim Fandango for the first time since it cameout back in the day. I really hate Glottis. Seriously. I HATE HIM! So it got me to thinking. What are the worst characters that you just can't stand in a more popular adventure game?

I loved them...
and Glottis, too... yikes! I would vote for that damned purveyor of previously-owned worm-infested half-rotten "ships," Stan from MI1. |

We shoot you now like an arrow into the wind. May you pierce the heart of the wind itself, and drink the blood of flight. Speed is the food of the great Glottis. Speed bring you life. Come back to us some day.

I also never liked Glottis, but then again I'm not a big fan of Grim Fandango... <hides>
Anyways, the worst character in a popular adventure game is Kate Walker! My God! She has got to be the most boring heroine ever! Most annoying: Stan (MI) and Nilo (Pandora Directive).

No, most boring and annoying is Nina Kalenkov from Tunguska And when I was watching Gundam Seed, I absolutely hated Flay, she was so horrible, that I was glad when she died in the end. |

I'd go for Oscar, the robot-automaton from Syberia. Stan from MI is also hard to look at for more than one minute straight...

Well the closest I've come to encounter an anoying carachter I suppose would have to be Brian Basco, mostly in the first Runaway just cause he talked way too much and he allways tries a little to hard to be funny and Joshua as well, come to think of it, I didnt care much for Rincewind in the first Discworld game either, but then I guess it's because I've never understood that kind of humour, he was allright in the second game though just like Brian!

That stupid main character from Fable (the AG not the RPG)...why the heck can't I recall his name now? ...Blond, irritating, nasty, mean spirited, puerile, and yet somehow very very boring too. He never had anything witty to say and I hated him so much that I abandoned the game part way through.
...Ooooh! But how could I forget Ann from Paradise? She absolutely deserves the crown for dullest, drabbest, most apathetic heroine ever. Last edited by SnorkleCat; 03-22-2007 at 03:37 AM. |

Quickthorpe - the worst character ever.
And both leads in Tunguska were annoying.

Yeah, I didn't like Brian from Runaway, too... Like he is trying to be funny or something.. For example in first chapter he's like gay when trying to walk in another window, like he was scared to look down...I mean, wtf...
Also, I didn't like how main charater from Still Life runs...like a sheep ffs. |

That godawfully whiny sidekick from Keepsake. Also from Keepsake, that silly stereotype Mustavio who's always accompanied by that cringing background tune.

I'd also have to put a vote in for Kent, the PC in Normality. There's just too much effort to make him the cool spaced-out hippie fighting against the boring establishment. It just gets irritating after a while.

Brian Basco. He is way to normal for his own good. Also, Joshua. Oh, boy, I despise Joshua. I can't believe HE was the character they had to bring back in the second...

Yup, I agree. Didn't like Glottis either. His gags were predictable, overdone and I mostly cringed and waited for them to end. He seemed out-of-place in the dark, quirky world of Manny. Glottis would have fit better in a children's TV show, like Barney the Dinosaur.
Worst character ever? Man, that's a tough question. So many awful characters to choose from. So many adventure games put in characters whose role is simply to annoy you. I'm going to vote for the mysterious Latino shaman in The Longest Journey who knows exactly what's going on the whole time, but decides for no reason other than dramatic irritation to inform April Ryan in a series of wordy, idiotic riddles. |
