It's a classic adventure in style of Still Life, Tunguska, etc., except it's in horror genre (cheesy 60 style- but in a good way ).
What put it above the mentioned titles (in my opinion, of course) is fantastic atmosphere and griping story.
It has its flaws: very unexpressing characters graphic-wise, slow tempo (at least in first chapter, but then the story really picks up), some strange timing mechanics.. however nothing too serious.

I'd say you'll like the game if you'll like the atmosphere and story. You can try out the demo, but it doesn't really make the game a favour. I didn't like it.. but luckily decided to try it out despite that.. due to good reviews.

Yes great news.... I too am a bit curious as to how the new game will progress.
Different story and characters? same Black Mirror Estate?

To those who are wondering about Black Mirror 1 (and those who loooooooved it ) i would reccomend reading the Adventuregamers Review,
Check the Pro/Cons on the right if U are in a hurry, they're pretty much spot on IMHO.
The 3 out of 5 is a fair score (or maybe 3,5..).

Anyway, also looking forward to BM 2.

But lets hope the gamedevelopers read the AVG review (and the prior discussions about this game here on AVG), not only the countless fanmails about how good it was.
There's much improvement to be done for the sequel..

$ure thing! Personally I don't really see a good reason for any kind of sequel, either, but hey...

After a lengthy stay at a Tibetan monastery, he realizes the error of his ways and comes back to set things right.
Heheh. Since people involved with video games seem to be so much into movies these days, I suppose that either

Spoiler:
a) It turns out that the first game was just a dream. Yes, the entire game, and you've never actually played it since it's never been made. That is, until now...
b) The sequel takes place in the future, 200 years after the events of the original game. Somehow somebody managed to collect and conserve blood drops of whatshisname and clones him for reasons yet unknown. Or
c) the producers decide to pull the plug while the game's still in pre-production. Rumors abound, anger rages, Finland qualifies for the European Championships, and eriq goes emo on the forums of adventuregamers.com causing the server to collapse.

Have you seen the comments over at Kotaku?

Gateway...TO OBLIVION!

It's odd how mainstream gamers are so out of touch with adventure games. They might as well have said "what, no Madden?"

^ That's basically how it is outside the few adventure sites. Not to mention I've only seen one person in the real-world that has even heard of an adventure game.

Sorry to ask but, what is The Black Mirror? I have never heard of the game. Strange cause I love adventure games.

Pls tell me a little about it.
Is it worth playing?
Story?
etc...

Don't know whether you're still interested in trying this game, but the Scandinavian release of the game was Starforce free. I bought it because at least it featured the full English version of the game while the Belgian one was a messy mix of a Dutch/English version (and had Starforce).

Anyway, a Black Mirror 2 would be nice! The first one was a solid adventure with interesting and lengthy gameplay. It focused on great story telling, while not forgetting to include some challenging gameplay. And idd, the atmosphere was brilliant! Sure, it had some problems (mainly the waiting around puzzles, the weak voice acting and ugly character animation), yet managed to deliver a fun gaming experience. Curious to see their idea for the sequel though, after the ending of the first one.

Great news!

But after the first game's ending...how's a sequel possible?

(That ending was spooky!)
who said it would be FMV?

Cool - I liked the first Black Mirror - maybe they have more of his backstory on Sam and how his wife came to die in a fire....

Spoiler:
The Samuel in the last game was the clone, which is why he talked so funny. The accelerated growth and force feed memory programming mechanism didn't work out quite right.

I hope this sequel is just as good as the original. I'd love to see where this goes, but I hate when they add all new characters.

I hope either the voice acting is improved... or remains bad enough to make me laugh.
