Big adventure games?
Saw a tread in the general games forum about the biggest games so I now wonder that adventure games are biggest? I want big worlds to explore and if they are none-linear it's even better.

I don't think they make big ones any more, so I'd suggest looking pre-2000. It's only a matter of time before someone nominates The Longest Journey, so I might as well do it first. It's very linear, though. Riven is pretty huge, and you have a lot of freedom regarding the order in which you do things, so it might be your cup of tea.

Black Dahlia is also an involved game that spans 4 years. It is a linear game, though. The Complete Uru game is very long, with tons of areas to explore. It has a lot of jumping and action type movements, but if you can stand that, you could probably spend a year playing it. I did and I used lots of hints .

Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis is a really big adventure, with long storyline, multiple locations, really big and cool game. I do recommend the CD version, with full speech.

a game a lot like the longest journey is journey to the centre of the earth thats pretty expansive and has a hell of a lot of hard puzzles.
Out of Lucasarts Grim Fandango is spread over three sep years and the Dig is pretty long, as said above, Fate of Atlantis is a pretty large game too.

There are two kinds of big... games which have large game worlds but are pretty much linear (The Longest Journey) and games which may not have physically large maps, but are non-linear or promote exploration. Grim Fandango and Fate of Atlantis come to mind.
I really enjoyed the Quest for Glory games for their "bigness," even though you can argue a lot of the game world was maze-ish maps where the only reason to explore was to A) kill something or B) collect something. Even so, I enjoyed it. |

you also have games which are impossible hard thus take a long time to complete -> anything with myst in the title
Longest journey takes an age to complete, best adventure game ever imo though. |

If your kick is exploration, I might suggest venturing somewhat outside the adventure realm and try Morrowind and Oblivion. With a passive wildlife mod you can explore the wilderness at your leisure. Sure they are actiony, but the game worlds are huge, with lovely landscapes, great architecture and strange cultures. You will even find some adventury quests to do.

Sure, but rest assured that Grim Fandango's years are packed with things to do.

How about Pandora Directive? It has been a while since I played it but it seemed quite long, not too linear, had lots of ways to explore and investigate with seven different possible endings (albeit they were all branches of three true endings). Not really sure if it is the longest, but defintely the best of the long ones.

If you don't mind a little jumping and ball pitching I'd say that Little Big Adventure 1 & 2 are pretty huge games. Good too!
