Default Guybrush vs Guybrush vs Guybrush vs Guybrush

Which Guybrush Threepwood is better? First, second, third, or fourth? I'm not talking about the games but Guybrush himself.

I still don't remember what was so great about Monkey Island 2 that so many people proclaim it as their favorite. I should play it through a second time around soon to bask in it's supposed splendor.

As for the question, Guybrush from MI3. That Guybrush had more facial expression, and his skinniness showed his geekiness well.

If you forgive my colloquialisms..
..In 1 he's a comedy newbie to the pirate business, comedy relief but undeveloped; In 2 he's becoming a pirate and brilliant in his 'adolescence' - especially the 'beard'; in 3 he's a complete weed; In 4 he's a parody of himself - the only MI i cant replay.

I think #2 is my favorite. I'm not completely sure why though.

Guybrush #1 is one of the few video game characters I've ever had a crush on. Very, very cute. *salivates*

Guybrush #2 is a bit more cocky and annoying, but by God, I love his beard and coat.

Guybrush #3 is nearly as cute as Guybrush #1, and I've been known to crush on him as well. Though not so much, as he's a tad too cartoony.

Guybrush #4 is a forgettable caricature of all of the above. That being said, I did rather enjoy it when he'd occasionally start talking in a deep Barry White-esque voice in an attempt to impress the ladies. Rowr.

MI is my favorite after MI2. In MI2 he was more like a real pirate and very cocky. I still loved both the 3rd and 4th though.

I like Guybrush 3, from COMI.

And Yes, we are talking about Guybrush Threepwood here and not the dog Guybrush from MI2: LR!

Back up just a minute.

Beep! Beep! Beep!

Guybrush was a dog? I thought that was just a beard.

Good, the main char in Tunguska is quite nice. I hope all Russians are like her. Wish she were mute though, cos the Yank accent had me quit the game on the first screen. (I gotta get hold of a German copy with subtitles or sumit)

Back to the main Q, I've only played 3 and 4, but 3's Guybrush was excellent. Classic 2D animation doesn't get much better than MI3.(PS, Murrey beats all GBs though -.o)

Guybrush from MI2. Frankly I think it's quite a travesty that more adventure game lead characters, or more video game characters in general, don't have beards.

In case anyone wonders: I am the dimwit who voted for 4*. Guybrush#1 seemed like more of an empty vessel to me, with no real attempts at characterization (save for the cute close-up portraits). Although I seem to remember reading Ron Gilbert explaining it actually was intentional, it means I didn't really manage to like him (or dislike him) as a character. Guybrush#2 was a definitive improvement (and MI2 is hands down my favourite game in the series). Guybrush#3 not so, but was saved by Dominic Armato's excellent voice acting. Guybrush#4 was a nice compromise between the classic era and CMI Guybrushes visually, and had all the personal charm of Guybrush#2, and Dominic Armato. Thus, he wins.

*EDIT: One of the two dimwits now! Yeah!

I liked the older wiser look of Guybrush in #2, he had all he needed to be a pirate except respect
The Guybrush in #3 was too geeky for my taste.

Gubrush no. 2 rool* Theres a thing about the beard... o_O

lol

no. 3 was ok, he had a more comic approach, and like said above could show more expression,

as for no.4.. all the characters in that sucked. I mean did you see Elaine? EUCH.
but some of the jokes were okay in EFMI
--But.. it's.. pink!--
