Default Microids goes to limbo (Syberia, Still Life, etc)

Ubisoft has acquired Microïds in 2005, and all Microids adventures goes to a limbo: no official websites, no downloads, everthing is gone.

Syberia 1 & 2, Still Life and other websites are all offline, vanished from the web.

Has anyone good news about that, or these adventures are gone forever?

Dreamcatcher has aquired Adventure Company, so these great games can also disapear from US soon...

Well, the games haven't been anywhere they are still on sale.A new Syberia game is unnecessary anyway. Kate Walker's journey has ended in Syberia 2. If you like Benoit Sokal games you can still wait for Aquarica and Sinking Island by the way .

Actually JoWooD has acquired Dreamcatcher. The Adventure Company has always been a part of Dreamcatcher, so now JoWooD will own The Adventure Company.

A game without a official website is like a dead product. It's very bad to adventure market that some best seller adventures has no home anymore.

So, thats worse than I think. JoWooD seems to have no interests in adventure games.

Yeah, and with it about 40% to 50% of the adventure market.

Question: Where does your 40-50% figure come from?

Also, they've been dead for a little while (I believe since mid 2005) and that certainly hasn't stopped the release of many, many adventure games since then and the production of many more.

Pretty much all Microids released was Still Life and the Syberia series. They are not that important to the genre. They have been dead for quite a while now, so I'm not sure why you are even bringing them up.

I completely agree with that remark above. Anyhow, White Birds Productions is a replacement for Microids.

Emm. Actually, the number of adventures increased since Microids left the market, both in quality and quantity, and the years 2002-2005 were some of the worst years in the adventure history..

I don't know if I am only a "sentimental" adventure gamer, but I think that is very sad that so many good adventure games simply be vanished from the web so quickly.

And that brought us Paradise? Not the best of Benoit's efforts.

The more games I play, the more I realize how good Syberia 1 & 2 truly are. I hope they never go off the market because there are many new game players coming up who would love them. Hats off to Microids!

Ubisoft, on the other hand, I think produced some of the Myst games. These are great games. So maybe there will be a good outcome.

Syberia won't go off the market soon, but UbiSoft do not care about them anymore.

I agree. I loved both Syberia games. Classic material imo. I was very sad to see Microïds go.
