Touch Detective released
Finally a new adventure on the DS. The reviews are average stating charming graphics and story with very illogical puzzles... the usual complains, nothing new to the adventure community Anyway, my copy should arrive next week (When can we see an adventuregamers review?) |

I've been slightly disappointed in what I've read of early reactions to this and gameplay videos I watched a while back weren't hugely inspiring. I'll still probably get it at some point for the art style alone but I'll be interested to hear what sort of depth of interaction it offers; the gameplay videos I mentioned before don't seem to show any interaction that's not directly related to puzzles.

Has anyone seen it in stores yet? On Saturday, someone at EB told me today was the day. I'll be looking for it during my lunch hour.

The reviews say that this is a short game, but the art is amazing.

I just got it this afternoon and have been playing for about an hour. The style is incredible but no, there isn't much interaction besides story/puzzle-related bits. Still, its a neat story with a gorgeous bunch of art and music, so I am loving the heck out of it. Makes me long for the old point-n-click games on this platform. (Gotta get on that homebrew though it'll be harder now with Lik-Sang going tits up.)

I'm not willing to simply brush off the mediocre reviews the game's been getting. Critics had reservations about Trace Memory which were warranted.
They praised Phoenix Wright, and rightly so. All the the reviews are pointing out the same flaws, so I'm guessing that the critics are right again and that the problem doesn't lie with them but with the game. |

I'm not buying a DS for adventure games until that witch-touching thing comes out

The DS is probably the most fun I have had in gaming in recent memory. Touch Detective is one of the reasons for that, along with many other amazing titles. Plus, the potential it has to reinvigorate the adventure genre is already showing up. This is a great game to start with and the rest will only build on it.
Also, the guys giving the game average scores don't seem to have much practice with adventure titles because their confusions and complaints at the puzzles seem totally unfounded to me. Sure, some of the puzzles require you to think outside of the box, but thats what is so great about adventure games. I still give it an 8 out of 10 so far...and I still haven't finished the first chapter yet!! Last edited by VictimOfScience; 10-27-2006 at 08:54 AM. |

I'm saving the money I was THIIIIIS close to spending on a DS for the upcoming Wii. And hoping the Wii is the same way, renovating the field and pumping a little juice back into the AG world.

Just completed the first chapter and it took around 2.5 hours. It was very fun and made sense the whole way through. This is why I got a DS.

There is a Touch Detective sequel in the making:
Here is the teaser site: http://www.success-corp.co.jp/softwa...sawari_tantei/ News: http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3156183 I still haven't finished the first one, I think it has a great looking art style with quirky characters and story, but the puzzles and dialogue is kind of average. But a sequel is great news for point and click adventures on the DS. |
