Adventure games will be back when there's some new classics rather than endless semi-realistic one-shot 'thrillers'.

Broken Sword 2 was a good adventure game?

It was ok but i'm talking about the era. Longest Journey was the only 'recent' adventure game that I really enjoyed, and that's 7 years old now.

Lol, gotta agree with you. I've never had a problem finding the next adventure game to play. In fact, there are more adventures now than ever before. As far as finding 'classics', I dunno, I pretty much enjoy every game I play. Either I'm easily pleased or people's standards are too high.

Oh, I don't know, some of the 'classics' I found to be a little ho hum. It's pretty subjective. I love ice cream, but I don't neccessarily like every single flavor they come out with, either. In any case, there's plenty of new games out there right now for everyone to find one they really like, I betcha.

happy trails,

Carolyn

I thought the Syberia franchise was widely considered the last classic adventure games.

Syberia is hardly a classic series, its good but not at a classic level.

Syberia did my head in. Puzzles that you could just repeatedly click everything with the non existant interface, then a story that trundles along slowly then is over when you think it's just started... which makes you wonder if you can be bothered with part 2... Nice graphics, music and voice acting though.

I liked the second game better than the first. Maybe it's because it's got kickass
music during certain parts

im sorry but i have to agree with the title of the thread.

I was deterred to Star Craft and then Counterstrike Beta and then Counterstrike and then Warcraft III and then Frozen Throne and then WoW.

BUT ADVENTURE GAMES ARE BACK!!!

Apart from Magic Online im only currently playing Keepsake.. im enjoying myself...

These previews are of some of the many adventure games we saw demoed at E3. You might also enjoy the four E3 articles that came out closer to the show.

It was a really, really good year for adventures.

Not yet, give it another 5 or 10 years.
