sorry if this is an old thread.
for me its obsidian, it was hard even with a walkthrough mainly because your in a foriegn world so no solutions to puzzles are sensible, just abstract. This game gave me nightmares, very cold. Last edited by Dale Baldwin; 06-16-2006 at 03:03 AM. |

Curse of Enchantia was pretty obtuse, as was Discworld.

I'm willing to bet that no one has ever completed these without hints:
- Discworld I & II - Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy I personally found Kyrandia 3 to be way harder than it needed to be due to the multiple solution rat holes. Although I don't consider it to be a "true" adventure game, Riven gets my vote for the most annoyingly obtuse puzzles. |

Restore a spot for me on the Black Dahlia bandwagon. There's still one puzzle in there that, after playing the game twice, with the BalmoralSoftware walkthrough (which is very comprehensive), I still have no freaking clue what the object of the puzzle is.
Also, has anyone ever played through Blue Ice? I only had the demo, but I would think that one's a strong candidate for hardest adventure game ever. |

Schizm.
I'd agree with kglaser that perhaps Blue Ice should take this dubious title. Even some reviewers never finished the game. I have this one and am saving it until I can find someone to play it with (the old '2 heads are better than one' theory )

I almost gave up on Still Life due to the sheer absurdity of the puzzles... That and the fact that I wanted to beat Victoria McPherson's head in with a blunt instrument.
I only stuck it out until the ending* because I'd loved Post Mortem so much. * and I use the term "ending" very loosely.

Blue Ice. Just getting past the opening screen is a mental challenge. I've read complaints by people who were sure it was a bug or a technical glitch. But it isn't.

It's an "old style" WT in that it is a Word document with no screen shots, but I think you would be surprised how comprehensive it is, And, FWIW, I also helped her write the WT to Lighthouse using the same style. I can send that to anyone who might be interested.

As for AG, I'd say Myst 4 (one of the only 1st person AGs I've played). I think 1st person games are 10X harder than 3rd.
Anyway, I'd like this moment to also say that, for non-AG, the Guilty Gear games. Anyone tried completing these on the hardest? HELL, try completing it on normal is hard enough. I'm sorry, I needed to get that off of my chest. |

The first Discworld game. No logic in there whatsoever. I didn't finish it, and I didn't play the ones that came after it. Although I love Pratchett's Discworld series, I didn't like the game at all
