Default Looking for some adventure games to play

As seems to be my calling every summer, I'm looking at buying up some adventure games to play. I'm scouring the site and hoping that you guys can give me some suggestions.

I prefer 3rd person point and clicks, so tailor your responses to that if possible. Really I just want it to be 3rd person as for some reason I have problems getting interested in first person adventures.

This is what I've played:
LucasArts: Sam&Max 1, Entire Monkey's Island Series, Grim Fandango, Dig, Full Throttle, MM/DoTT, Fate of Atlantis
The Neverhood
The Longest Journey
Runaway
Beneath a Steel Sky/Flight of the Amazon Queen
Syberia (didn't like it)

Any and all suggestions are welcome. Thanks.

Well, if you haven't played the Gabriel Knight games I completely envy you and want to trade places with you right now. To play all of those again for the first time would be...just WOW. They are third person and quite brilliant. I think you should get all three games and play them in order. There is no better experience in all of adventure gaming in my opinion.

I would recommend the Broken Sword games, Black Mirror and The Moment of Silence.

Oh, and Still Life, of course.

Since you've played the longest journey you should try it's sequal Dreamfall
Myst games are fun although they're not everyones cup of tea.
Csi games are good (they're the crime drama games)
Riddle of the Sphinx

But Dreamfall isn't point and click so unless OneHitWonder is OK with direct control, some combat and some stealth, it may not work out. There are may threads in the Adventure forum dealing with Dreamfall.

http://forums.adventuregamers.com/se...earchid=392813 (the threads that contain spoilers should say so.)

Ther's not a lot of combat and most of the stealth is pretty easy there is ony one stealth seqence that is really hard. But for the most part it's an interactive story. Also most of the combat is avoidable. I think that there's only three instancesa where you have to fight and they're easy.

That's why I directed OHW to look at some other Dreamfall threads. For some, the combat and stealth weren't a big deal but for others, it was a deal breaker and it's very much dependent on the gamer. OHW was asking for more point and click games but it's good to put Dreamfall on the radar too.

I'd suggest looking at Sierra's catalogue of games. There's dozens of them, and almost all of them are third person. I know they get a lot of bad talk, especially on Lucasarts-fueled boards such as these, but there's some real gems in there. The Gabriel Knight series has already been mentioned, but you've got all the "Quest" games, and even more.

I'm sure you can find websites that list them all off, and from there you can just pick one that interests you, and track it down.

I'm noticing a trend with Gabriel Knight, I'll definitely have to check it out.

Thanks for all the suggestions, this should keep me occupied for awhile.

Gabriel Knight games are a safe bet (especially the magnificent first installment of the series) but I would also recommend checking out:

Loom (a snack time-wise but a wonderful and memorable experience in every other aspect)
Discworld: Noir
Simon the Sorcerer 1 & 2
Toonstruck
The Feeble Files (nothing awesome but still very cute point and click)
