Default Which one should I try to find?

I´m a big fan of what some people call "Abandonwares"...games and stuff so old you can´t find it for sell anymore. Or it´s really hard to...

So i´m asking you guys what game should I try to find and play..

- Syberia
- The Longest Journey
- Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis
- Alone in the Dark 1

How about those? Any new game ideas? Thanx...

Well I'm pretty sure TLJ can still be bought (especially with the release of Dreamfall imminent), so I don't think that can be classed as abandonware quite yet.

Much the same as Syberia 1 and 2.

Alone in the Dark 1 is a possibility but as of where to find it, I couldn't tell you. Also, I'm not sure what sort of PC you have, but I'd imagine the specs for this game would be VERY dated, and it might not run on systems created in the last 5 - 7 years. This was one of the first games I owned getting a PC, back when I was about 7.

And Lucasarts NEVER class anything as Abandonware, not even Loom...:S! But they release big packs every now and again, and I think Fate of Atlantis is involved in at least one, though I'm not certain.

Basically, Alone in the Dark 1 is your best shot, perhaps even 2 and 3 as well, but they might not run on newer PCs, unless you use something like Dosbox!

If you can find them, the original Discworld games are a lot of fun.

The titles you mentioned are not abandonware I'd suggest looking on Home of The Underdogs to see what games are abandonware (find the ip address on the site I linked to).

Abandonware is a murky subject. Syberia and TLJ can still be purchased. Yeah, it might not be easy from Brazil, but that doesn't change the legality of it.

Syberia
Fate of Atlantis
The longest journey

TLJ and Syberia can be bought in store in Sweden at least...
You'll be hard pressed finding an abandonware site that dares put those up for upload without getting anal probed by the copyright holder or ESA... ;-)

That´s what I hate the most in Brazil...if it´s not "new", you can´t find it...

It's basicly the same in Sweden but there's a difference between "old" (Syberia came out 2002) and "OLD" (Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis came out 1992).

I can't get a hold of Syberia here, in Norway, and I live in Oslo (Norway's capital, for those who didn't know..)..

I think you would struggle to find indiana Jones and Alone in the dark... As far as the games go, all are great, if you want something lighthearted, then choose indy. If you want an involving story, choose Longest journey, and if you want something slightly creepy then alone in the dark oh, and if you want annoying robots choose syberia

There is such a thing as mail-order. Companies that deliver both to Brazil and to Norway, I´m sure. But, not getting hung up on the legality issue of abandonware, the games...

Syberia - is a beautifull, if at times a bit empty, classic adventure game. Sure I had some gripes with it, but the over all experience really won me over. The mood that this game creates is just extraordinary.

The Longest Journey - is not only a long journy, but a long game. A looong game, with looong sections of people just talking. Looooong sections. Like really looooooong conversations. Loooooooooong ones. Still it´s a nice game, people really love it. A bit much back tracking and empty screens (wich Syberia suffers from as well) and looooooooong conversations.

Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis - is not to be missed. The best of this bunch and a true joy to play. Lucky you who have yet to play it.

Alone in the Dark 1 - was a great game at the time, but now works best as a sweet memory. If you get it running you will realise that not every game ages well. Resident Evil and all the other survival horror games of today stole everything from it any way. Play one of those instead. I recomend Silent Hill.

If you haven't played Shadow of Destiny (which is on the PS2 and the PC), I suggest you pick that one up.

That's what parents are for .

But seriously, one of (quite possibly) the only good things about getting older is gaining access to mail-order .
