Default disappointment From DreamFall :

Hi,

Well i just saw the official DreamFall trailer.
And i saw the main player hanging on trees shoot ppl and creatures.

And i just wonder is that an adventure ? A quest ? is that a real Longest Journey 2 ?

Cuz i think that expect the 3D change they changed other stuff.
Im not talking about the mousr click and point classic quests.
Thats ok if they changed it.

And the graphics looks the best.

But i dont understand why they put inside elements of Platofrm and Action ?!
I was sure it will be classic Quest/Adventure .

Any ideas if the game is ognna be 95% quest and 5% action/platform or we will see a lot of platform and action ?

Thnx a lot.

It's very much an adventure game, and most of the "action" can be avoided by other means. There are a couple of fight sequences you do have to do, but the emphasis of the game is not on the action.

I'm pretty sure there's no shooting involved in Dreamfall? At least not from the main characters.

Yeah. Which trailer did you see?

Anyway, like Dale said; Dreamfall will be very much an adventure game. You only have to do a few fight sequences, but for the most part you can choose whether to solve a problem by fighting or taking a more adventurous approach. Dreamfall is anything but an action-game.

Does it matter if it has some action? If you ask me I'm more interested in these genre blending games than the classic-styles we've been given the past 2 years. Having played the scratches demo I think I'm maybe ready for alot more games like Indigo Prophecy that try something new.

I still don't know of any actual shooting done by the player. Certainly don't recall any in the trailer.

Indeed. And until the game's out and more people are playing it, I'm sure it won't be the last time. At least the wait is almost over.

I don't really care if other people don't like this game because of the fighting (or shooting even, if it comes to that). Those people can go ahead and miss out on adventure game history. Screw them and their closed-mindedness to even consider change for a second. I only care if I will like the game, and I'm pretty sure I will. I'm also pretty sure that I'm going to like this game all the more BECAUSE I have the option to resort to violence. I liked Full Throttle, and that's enough for me. Violence can be a solution to puzzles. And I sorely miss games like Quest for Glory. It's about time something like Dreamfall came along.

Chocolade, don't worry, I'm sure Ragnar is not going to go create a DOOM 3 for us. The action bits are there to provide variety and maybe to attract a bigger audience, but this game is an adventure game with a strong emphasis on ADVENTURE.

RaMa, what happend to that 'Find the Watilla' contest?

Did you post the winners somewhere? Sorry if this has been discussed somewhere else. There are just to many Dreamfall threads, to check them all.

I don't know what to say about this blending between theese genres. Could be a good thing, but it could also ruin the entire game, it depends on how good they were implemented in the game. Dreamfall is nr 1 in my wish list, and i really hope it's going to be at least as good as TLJ, but those fighting scenes got me a little worried since the beggining. Anyway, we just have to wait a little more to find out if it's a great game or not.

Not liking something has nothing to do with close-mindedness, and everything to do with taste (or skill).
