What a great quiz!!!

I got 27 out of 37:
Man I thought I knew my adventure games... way to prove me wrong huh

In my defense I would like to add that I haven't played many text-adventures...

Woo Hoo!

37! 373737!

In response to the ones people are having trouble with...

#1 is a game based on a very famous license. The game iis supposedly beyond awful.

#9 is *really obscure*. It's a horror adventure game that shares it's title with a not-so-great recent science fiction film.

#10 is a sequel to a Legend Entertainment game based on a science fiction novel.

#20 is a Dark Sierra game. There were supposed to be three of them but the third one hasn't been made yet, IIRC.

#22 is an Atari ST detective game.

#24 is a retelling of a Chandler story. The title is descriptive of the nature of the game.

#26 is a Level 9 IF game where you are a ghost solving his own murder.

#27 Is *not* Death Gate, it's the other one.

#34 is a Legend Entertainment game where you travel through time.

#35 is a relatively recent adventure game where you are trying to break into a museum to steal jewels.

Hope those help.

Aurebesh: Yeah, at least one game is a non-adventure.

#8 is a (wickedly awesome) RPG from Interplay. Specifically:
Spoiler:
Fallout 2

I got 14 out of 37 correct. I mainly messed up most of the realistic-looking ones and all the text adventures.

Despite my earlier griping I think this a cool quiz and I like the concept.

Peace & Luv, Liz

"I like the idea of Oompa Loompa Elementals."

Thanks to those who liked it. The only hard part was making all the screenshots myself.

Well, according to mobygames.com
Spoiler:
Fallout 2
can be categorized as RPG/Adventure. It certainly has alot of adventure elements. Consider it a trick-question then.

Congrats on a perfect score, you must be the king of adventure gaming!
I agree #1 was pretty bad, but it had nice graphics. I think it was buggy beyond completion btw. #10 was written by my favorite scifi author; Fredrick Pohl. #22 is also DOS and Amiga500.

Getting the games to run in Guest PC on macintosh was pretty tough. I had alot of adventure game gems that simple didn't run and couldn't be screenshot for the quiz. :/ I might do another one if I can be bothered to dig up my old abandonware pc from the basement.

Is it difficult creating a web page with those answer blanks, in which you type in the answer and then press a 'submit' button afterwards ? Can you point me to anywhere that tells you how to do that ?

I've seen another format where you type in your answer and it immediately tells you if you're correct without having to press 'submit' first.

I'd like to have a go at creating my own from scratch ; i.e., not just the screenshots, but the whole quiz. Do proformas exist perhaps ?

Thanks and apologies if it's a daft question.

My quiz script is a 5kb php file with a mysql database. Hm... I learned my "l33t skillz" in school. I guess there's guides on the net for learning both php and sql.

Those without submit buttons are probably made in javascript or maybe even flash or something. Javascript quizzes are less secure I guess, since one can look in the html/js code for the correct answers (although, one can do some encoding or something).

Hmm... Well... I wish you luck in creating your own quiz script then.
Why not just make shots/answers and send me one though?

Ah yes, Fallout 2! A very good game, even thoguh it isn't an adventure game. Fallout 1 was also very good. Fallout Tactics Brotherhood of Steel however sucked monkey nuts.

That was tough! I got 9 answers, but to some older pictures I have no idea.
I suspect I should know 5, 16, 31 and 35, but I cannot guess what they are.

28 is Sherlock Holmes - Case of the Rose Tattoo
