Default Kyrandia 3 -- Am I Screwed?

Doh...I've beaten this game a long time ago but thought I'd play it again. I think I may have deadlocked myself though.

Spoilers below...........

I'm at the Fish Court area. I forgot to pick up Malcolm's Jester Staff from under his bed on Kyrandia. I can't seem to tickle the fish in the school area. I have a left sock but no luck....am I screwed? This would be a serious bug as I can't complete the game or go back to Kyrandia to get the staff...

Thoughts?

Thanks!

(This thread should probably be moved to the hints forum.)

My memories are not perfectly clear, so maybe I'm just completely wrong.

Anyway, are you sure you really need to tickle the teacher? As far as I can remember, that only allows you to get the apple (and the worm), which you don't absolutely need.

Spoiler:

There are two ways to get into the underworld. A subtle one, which (if I remember correctly) may be not accessible without the apple. But there is also the normal one, by paying the fish with the cannon. If you need coins, you'll have to steal from the blind bat (though this is awfully tedious). There are two different ways to do that, neither of which requires the apple, as far as I can remember.

So my guess is that you're not hopelessly stuck at all!

Thanks for the tip. I'll check into it. This game definitely offers several ways of tackling puzzles.

You could check a walkthrough if you were really desperate.
