Well, I did my worst. Here goes:
  It's an obscure C-64 game, made/published by a known, non-english/US adventuregame company. I remember the game being quite hard, but then again back in the time my English was in early stages. The interface was also quite hard to get used to... too many activity icons for my taste. Anyways... if nobody guesses it (very likely), just say you give up and I'll hand the throne to someone else.

Well any big hint will just make you fire up Google and enter the keywords, but hey, no one even tried, so I guess there's no point in holding it secret:
It was developed by Ordilogic/Lankhor, a french developer. Magazine excerpts can be found on one of the Lankhor homage sites.

No, it's not Iron Lord.
I believe Iron Lord was made by Ubisoft, not Lankhor. Anyway, next (ultimate) hint. The game is listed here, in the right column titled 'Aventure' Entries are clickable, then when inside, if you look a bit, you'll find images of this game, just scroll down a bit, to find a familiar looking one, although I took mine myself.
