When I get my PC....
I think I'm probably going to be overwhelmed with all the of the games I have to get, so I basically wrote out this list of I plan on purchasing.
Neverhood Grim Fandago Full Throttle Broken Sword (So I can experience the game in all of it's glory) Sam and Max Hit the Road The Last Express Blade Runner Go ahead and give me your thoughts on the list so far, and inform my if I might have missed any. Other than that, I think I'm good. |

Hm. I'm guessing you're going for the relatively recent games (besides Sam & Max). If that's the case, then I'd also go ahead and add The Longest Journey to that list if you haven't played yet. Also, try out the Syberia series and see how you like that. Assuming of course that you haven't already played that. Other than that, the list looks good.

Syberia looks cool, but I've heard some many mixed thoughts about it I thought I would stray away from it until maybe later. |

Antoinetta, we agree on so many of our favorite games, but my all time favorite isn't on your list. Have you not played Obsidian? I loved this, and found it truly unique in puzzles and the entire game premise. It is very hard to find as no one wants to part with theirs. Faust is my 2nd favorite, but after that it gets hard to choose.

Hi, Lynnsie:
No, I've never played Obsidian. As soon as I read your post above, I went and read a review on it. The idea of robots with TV heads sounds a bit corny, but otherwise it sounds like a good game. Will it play on XP? and how available is it. If I can play it on my machine, and if I can get a copy, I'll give it a shot. Antoinetta |

I played it on my Win98se, but Inferno has a section on it here:
Inferno's site on Obsidian The robots bit is a small part of this funny and difficult game. There are a couple of Monty Python-esque kind of situations. A really unique bureaucratic red tape sequence, a mini-maze of eight rooms that you have to do in the correct order. The world of Obsidian is the inside of a cube, and you must traverse all 6 inside walls - literally climbing the walls! There are so many unique puzzles and situations - describing it doesn't do it justice, it's one you have to experience. It is very hard to find. This game, when it came out had little or no advertising, made not much money, and the company that made this wonderful game went out of business. So the original numbers of games sold hasn't ever been increased - you have to get a used one. It took me months to find a copy I could afford on eBay. Here's a copy of my review at MM - Obsidian Review Lynsie

Obsidian is creativity at its best. It's a "phenomenal game", just like fairygdmother said in her review. The vidbots are funny but not corny, they will make you laugh and they are of course symbolic of bureaucrats: half robot, half man. The Bureau is the most humorous Realm in the game. There are other non-human bots, like the nanobots and beautiful, elegant Bismuth.
Obisidian does have a story. But a lot of it is implied and you have to put some effort in unravelling it. Above all, it's a concept. It all hangs together. It's about awareness and consciousness, human consciousness, dreams, thinking machines, artificial intelligence, nanotechnology, rules, rebels. I can't sing its praises enough. A few days ago, I noticed an unsold Obsidian on ebay. No bidders. Imagine that! It has been relisted. |

Also, it's a very special game, and a great one. As for the original question, well, all the games in the (too short) list are great, but Grim Fandango excepted, they're not on the first ten of my list of favorite. What games have you played already, Boneho Chane?

I highly recommend Journeyman Project 3. Everyone who I have played it with loved it as well, so I would be suprised if you didn't. Its also my favorite computer game of all time, which some people find a bit odd, but its just that special game for me.
