A DX9 only game in 2003? I doubt it.

If I'm not mistaken, BG&E didn't require a DX9 card, but a DX9 compatible card. I'm also not sure what the difference is (I even bought a DX9 card because I thought I'd need it for BG&E), but they list GeForce1 256 and Radeon 7200 as minimum requirements, and those are definitely not DX9 cards.

DX9 compatible just means it works with DX9. A "DX9 card" is one that supports all the new features of DX9.

I figured as much, but that's a really confusing way to say it.

This is all too complicated. I'm going to go play on my GCN now to calm my head.

Hmm... I didn't actually research any of this, I just speak from experience. I remember that the game didn't run on my old card, gave me a similar sort of error that MraeortyL had, then I got a newish computer and it looked amazing on Radeon 9600 Pro somethingorother.

Well, the Radeon 9600 Pro isn't a DX9 card either

So....is a Geforce 5500 FX a DX9 card? Somehow I doubt it.

Don't think so. I'm pretty sure nVidia cards are only DX9 from the 6xxx series upwards.

I'm likely to be corrected before too long though.

Less than 30 minutes, is that too long?

All GeForce FX cards sport full DX 9.0 support (but not DX 9.0c).

Pretty good effort . I was hoping to remain uncorrected for at least an hour.

I'll be sure to post my next wildly inaccurate claim in a more obscure thread.

On the topic of Psyconaughs, it looks like sales are picking up a bit. Its now on Play.com's best seller list, beating Chaos Theory & just below Halo 2.

I managed to persuade my animation teacher to buy a copy for the PS2 (unfortunately the only version you can get here in the Netherlands; blast their eyes). He liked it.

You're talking about the Xbox version, right? It may have something to do with the fact that they've discounted it.

So? If it makes people buy it, then good. Double Fine still get their share.

True, but it hardly means that sales are picking up substantially. Most products rise up the charts when the price drops - just look at some of the rubbish that has managed this.

I agree that all sales are good, but I suspect that the increased sales at Play.com will count for very little in the grand scheme of Double Fine's finances .
