I'm waiting for this to finally come to shops...

Oooh, I still have to wait until June 1st. The suspense is killing me (even though I already know what's happening in the comic, and I already read many of the re-done pages online. Still, me want!)

And maybe I'll even buy the Lady Yates' friend and friendly competitor in the webcomic business Sarah's comic.

I just found this on a fleamarket:

Good old Dutch translation of the wonderful French comic Iznogoud. It's somewhat of a nostalgic thing for me. I hear the movie that just came out is rather crappy. That's unfortunate because Asterix & Obelix: Mission Cleopatra showed that French comicbook adaptations could be exquisitely good.

I am just now reading "Inverloch", and this page showing a conversation between Lei'ella (left) and Acheron (right, and also top) just made me smile.

"I most certainly do not!" - Priceless!

More than that, it's one of the worst comic book adaptations, however harsh that may sound. Shame, really.

Have you read Elfquest, Jaz?

No, sadly not. But I know what it is, because I did research after hearing the song "Elfquest - Madcoil - Nightcrawler" (just like that).

Now I'm actually curious to the depths of its awefulness. It's a shame because it could have really worked. The comic was wonderful and even the cartoon series managed to capture the feel of it.

It's too childish, poorly casted, has very little of comic book's characteristic humor, and there are music numbers every five minutes. Go figure.

Hey! I used to have an album of Iznogoud too! Can't remember what happened to it, though. I'm afraid it has gone the way of most of my childhood possessions. My mother's always been very busy during spring cleaning.

I just finished reading it. What strikes me is how often they break the fourth wall, and even how often Goscinny and Tabary make appearances in the strip. One classic joke is during a strike of the readers of the comic, who demand that Iznogoud finally becomes the sultan. The two creators are seen through a small window, discussing on what to do. The caption says they're holding a meeting in their humble abode. Then the camera zooms out and we see the small window is actually part of gigantic royal palace =D

Yes, I had fun.

Zim and Johnny may be more popular, but Squee! is so far the only Jhonen Vazquez character that I've connected to.

Was Squee around before Johnny ("just call me 'nny'") crawled through his window in the first JTHM strip?

I love Vasquez' stuff. Even his Filler Bunny books are gems.

Nope, his book came after, alltough he's a fetured character in JTHM.

And Fillerbunny rocks!
