Default Non-Vacation Pics

Three Acts

Act One: Bebe welcomes you to the farm.

Hi! Welcome to the farm!

Here's the old house...

...and here's the barn.

We've got big fields to play in...

...and a long, long driveway to run down.

Don't stop now! We're almost there!

Whew! Let's sit on the porch for a while.

Act Two: The effect of lightning on a hickory tree.

Act Three: Decoration.

The oldest tombstones are made of sandstone. Some have been replaced, but a few still remain.

Even though the hickory tree got blown to smithereens, other trees remain.

My Mom (in white) and my Aunt (in green) say "Hello!".

Okay, I'll just come out and be the first to say it, are you really having a picnic in a graveyard?

Why surprised, Jatsie? It's common in various cultures around the world to do that. We do it in the Philippines, it's called 'Arao nang patay' (Day of the Dead). We actually feast with a picnic on the graves our dearly departed. It's to honour them and celebrate their memory. Same thing in Mexico but it's called 'Dia de los Muertos'.

Yes, we are. Actually, we had just finished eating when I took that photo. Having a picnic on the grounds is traditional on Decoration Saturday. Besides, I'm related by blood or by marriage to almost everyone buried there, so it's not like we were eating near the graves of strangers or anything icky like that.

Well, we didn't have a group photo with out new bass player yet (I'm now on drums but not in these pix) so we worked a little photoshop magic to include him.

My two good buds Disco Steve and Taffi. Both play guitar and alternate on vocals. Old drummer (my brother) in the background.

My ugly mug.

A proud moment in Skychief history.

And of course, my baby.

Awww! Skychief has souvenir monogrammed surgical masks? How cool!
Seriously though, that's a brilliant merchandising scheme.

I know it's not, but that's what I prefer to think of it as.

Gentlemanly modesty? Or utterly underhanded perversity?

After all, you knew what it really is and yet you prefer to think of it as something you put on your face. Hmmmm, the irony is quite titillating, isn't it?

Ew! I hadn't even thought of that!
Okay, I now will think of them only as "step-ins".

Hey Scott, I love that red barn. Such a stereotypical American image! The old house looks pretty cool too - Alabama looks amazing.

It's a classic. As a child I spent many an hour building forts with hay bales in the loft. It doesn't show in the photo, but the core part is just pine logs laid log cabin style.

It was great for a weekend cabin, but it's just a storage building now.

Scott
I just love the Alabama pics! The drive way picute is beautiful. And so is the nature.
You should start a Live on a farm vacation and get Europeans to come and spend their Euros experiencing living on a genuine southern farm.
There are farmers around here who does that and attracts Germans as well as Swedish city people who wants to feel close to nature.
