I wanna officially thank the thread starter for pointing me to this fantastic website. I spend hours every day just watching the fella sleep, only to be delighted when it finally gets up and tries to climb a rock or eat bamboo. It's just so cute! I got my whole family hooked on it as well =).

I noticed it myself! It was working a couple of hours earlier, though. Let's hope they get it back up quickly, since I'm already getting withdrawal symptoms

I did not know that pandas were only fertile 3 days out of the year. Three!! How is this advantageous to the species? Is this something that has been selected for inadvertantly over time? And by whom?

Well, Pandas are known to be a prime example of a species NOT very fit for survival. They would've gone extinct between this and a couple of hundred years, even if mankind never interfered with their environment. They also appear to have major problems adapting to a change in their diet (or so I've read in an article years ago). So I guess this is just another oddity of a species that's not quite as dynamic as it should be.
