I loved adventure games. Especially in a red wine sauce.

Adventure games birth schizophrenia, on the one hand I would have to say I adore them, on the other I loathe them.
The developers seek to make me suffer either through insideously horrible and ingenius puzzles that would have anyone kicking themselves upon solving them or insipidly illogical puzzles that leave one staring at the screen, wondering just what the hell is going on until one realizes one has been staring at the screen wondering what the hell is going on for the last 20 minutes and that's 20 minutes of their life they're not getting back! Yet all this said, adventure games are still some of my favourite games. I conclude that perhaps it's not a case of schizophrenia but rather that us adventure gamers are a sadistic bunch. Sadistic, masochistic and hardy enough to take it (most of the time). |

"Say, have any of you guys here ever heard of this cool new game from LucasArts called Grim Fandango?" (Ow, that was hard to type with one hand. For some reason, my left arm just shot up and started waving dementedly.)

I love adventure games! In fact, I'm IN LOVE with adventure games!!
Wait, wha-- You want to...? WTF is this "just friends" crap?!? I LOVE you, Adventure, doesn't that mean anything to you??? No. NO. Don't give me that "it's not you, it's me" bs. I won't have it!! My mother was right! You DO just want me for my money. Well, if I can't have you all for myself... *BLAM* *BLAM* OMG... What have I done? I killed Adventure Games! And in the AG forums, no less!! Quick, think Mark, think. Okay, first, I have to hide the body. But where? (snaps fingers) I've got it!! In the attic! It's so dark in here, the body's likely to be eaten by a grue! PERFECT! Okay, now the gun. Ha, I'll put it in the non-adventure games forum...NO ONE will even think twice about it being in there! Now, just need to mop down the topic, get rid of all that blood...excellent. I've killed adventure games, and no one was the wiser! (evil laughter echoes as he slowly saunters to his getaway car) |

Can you help me? Sam Fisher? Never heard of the guy...but, okay, yeah, he'll do. Thanks man, I owe ya!!" (hits redial) "Oh, and make sure Sammy-boy destroys the picture she took of me killing Adventure. Anyone sees that,I'm a dead man!" |

I love adventure games as long as they are 3D, not p&c, do not include a fall in love lead female character, graphics aren't cartoonish and the end is not a cliffhanger. You can add no out of place puzzles, no inventory puzzles, up to date graphics, physics and surround sound.
Well apart from that I pretty like adventures PS: No adventure should exist without a fair bit of action and jumping

I haven't played Adventure yet, but I think I prefer slightly more modern games, such as Brian Uri's Augmented Fourth.
