puzzle puzzles are not right for strong story based adventures i think Still Life had too much of this which is whyit partly let me down also the small robot puzzle in this game is awkward

yeah which is probably why lucasarts didnt have that many. Although Keepsake seems fairly story based... with its cutscenes and stuff.. and its packed full of Puzzle Puzzles.

As a Lucas Arts adventure fan I love the mixing items with items.

oh dont get me wrong, im not completely against that SORT of puzzle. its just that sometimes its silly how it happens and why. So i just think that its not my favourite sort of puzzle.

"ALL OF THESE & MORE"?

I think that a good adventure game ought to have a wide variety and mixture of puzzle types.

sorry the "ALL OF THE ABOVE " option? well my whole point of the post was to find out the single most popular type of puzzle.. not what people like in a game as a whole (which should obvioulsy be ALL OF THE ABOVE were i to include it as an option. Looks like Puzzle Puzzle and Item with Scenery are winning out quite easily though.

Default Chat them up

I chose Chat them Up because I really liked the discussions in the Tex Murphy games where you had to make Tex say the right things, based on vague descriptions of what he was to say. That was really innovative, and I haven't seen that much elsewhere. In fact, I can't remember ever having seen that elsewhere.

yeah definetly an original type of puzzle not used very often. Sometimes its just a matter of saying everything until you get the right thing which dosn't make it that difficult.

Law of the West, albeit not an adventure didn't give you multiple opportunities to get it right... but thats the only option LIKE that i can think of. Most games i've played where you're required to be told somthing or tell someone or ask someone something you get infinite tries to ask it.

I don't nessicarily care what *kind* of puzzle it is, as long as it a) makes sense with the plot/story b)is clever and relatively unique, and c) doesn't require specialized knowledge or skill

Non for me, I don't like puzzles to much I am more interested in the exploration and story. If I do have to endure puzzles then I think they need to fit in well with the environment and storyline.
