Yes, as Once-a-Villain said, Myst 1 had the weakest plot from the whole series. It wasn't bad, not as such, but it's far from epic and you stumble upon it by accident, inbetween the looking-at-pretty-pictures.
Riven had a decent rescue-the-damsel story with a few nice twists to it, Myst III has a nice revenge story, and Myst IV has a very deep redemption story.

Basicly, I understand your criticism about Myst and partly agree with it, but it's only valid for the first one (and maybe also for Uru, which is understandable because it was meant as a MMO).

That's exactly why I'm so excited about Al Emmo and the Lost Dutchman's Mine.

But I worry (probably more than I should) that the team won't make enough money off it, simply because the graphics will be considered dated by anyone who doesn't have a specific nostalgia for games from the early 90s.

Looks fun. So many of these games fly under my radar. Any updates on this one Fov? It says it is due out this year.

We met with the Himalaya team at E3 and they said they were still planning to release Al Emmo this year. They'd just finished up voice recording at the same time. It's the same team behind the fan-made Quest for Glory 2 remake, and it appears that project's been put on hold until Al Emmo's done. Not exactly sure when, but I'm fairly confident we'll see it this year sometime.

As for GK1, check out the patch posted here. Tons more stable than playing in DosBox (or so I hear).

Yeah I used Dosbox 6.3. It wasn't very stable, but I made it through.
