R. Franco Digital is utilizing old-school arcade nostalgia with Spin Fighters, a new slot inspired by classic one-on-one retro fighting games. Instead of simply spinning through a standard reel setup, you’re thrown into a head-to-head battle where every winning line can potentially land a hit.

The Spanish iGaming provider has built the game around a character selection screen, letting you pick two contenders before the action begins. It’s a solid idea that immediately gives Spin Fighters a different feel than most other games out there, especially for anyone who grew up button-mashing through arcade titles of this ilk.

Fighting mechanics are the core of the game

The main gameplay revolves around attacks, health bars, and eliminations. When a winning spin matches one of the four upper icons, the direction of that icon determines which fighter gets hit. Each winning line triggers an attack, reducing the targeted fighter’s health bar.

Once a character’s health reaches zero, the game activates a respin with special reels, giving that fighter a chance to recover and stay in the battle. If they fail to make it back, they’re eliminated, and a new opponent steps into the arena.

The longer a fighter survives, the more dangerous they become. The victorious character earns a multiplier based on the number of opponents defeated, giving each knockout a little more weight as the fight continues.

Bonus rounds don’t pull punches

Spin Fighters also includes a bonus round triggered by landing three Scatter symbols. Here, the selected fighter takes on a punch bag, with each successful hit capable of awarding up to 100x the stake.

Touching on how Spin Fighters was created, Javier Sacristán Franco, International Business Director at R. Franco Digital, said the game was designed to evoke the nostalgia players feel for classic console combat titles, while also giving them meaningful choices through character selection.
