It’s looking like Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced is best played on PS5 Pro
Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced is definitely more than a simple polish job, but the latest PS5 Pro details make it sound like Sony’s upgraded console could be the place to play it.
Ubisoft has now revealed the PlayStation-specific features for the upcoming remake, confirming that Black Flag Resynced has been rebuilt from the ground up on the latest version of the Anvil engine. The developer suggests nearly every system has been modernized while keeping the spirit of the 2013 original intact.
Playing Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced on PS5 Pro is where it’s at
On standard PS5, you can expect 60 FPS Performance, 30 FPS Fidelity, and 40 FPS Balanced modes, with the latter requiring a 120Hz display. The game will also support HDR, Dolby Atmos, DualSense haptic feedback, adaptive triggers, fast SSD loading, and ray-traced global illumination across graphics modes, with ray-traced reflections added in Fidelity mode.
However, the PS5 Pro version appears to be where the recreation truly shines. If you’re planning on playing on the upgraded console, you’ll benefit from extended ray tracing support across all graphics modes, including both ray-traced global illumination and ray-traced specular reflections. In plain English, lighting and reflections should look richer without forcing you to completely give up performance.
The Pro version also makes use of the latest PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution tech, designed to improve image quality and reconstruction while reducing the gap between performance and fidelity modes. Ubisoft is also expanding strand-based hair rendering on PS5 Pro, with Edward getting it in all modes, nearby crowd characters benefiting in Fidelity mode, and cinematics using it for all characters.
One of Black Flag’s strongest plusses is the strength of its Caribbean setting, from stormy seas to sun-soaked ports, so these upgrades will definitely matter more here than in a more enclosed Assassin’s Creed game.
With improved lighting, weather simulation, reflections, and image quality, PS5 Pro appears to deliver the all-around best version of Edward Kenway’s return.
