The Witcher 3’s Songs of the Past DLC will make its debut at Gamescom 2026

Just when you thought Geralt had finally put his feet up and was enjoying a quiet game of Gwent, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is preparing to return with another expansion, and we’ll be getting our first real look soon.

CD Projekt RED has confirmed that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Songs of the Past will receive a proper showing during Gamescom Opening Night Live on August 25, 2026. The presentation begins at 11 AM PT/2 PM ET/8 PM CEST, with a promise of an initial glimpse at what awaits in the upcoming DLC.

Most of the details surrounding the expansion have remained fairly thin for now, meaning we do not yet know where Geralt’s next adventure will take him fully, or how substantial the new storyline will be. However, Songs of the Past is being described as the third fully-fledged expansion for The Witcher 3, following the critically acclaimed Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine, so we can at least be sure it’ll be meaty.

If you are lucky enough to be attending Gamescom in person, you will be able to learn even more than those at home. CD Projekt RED is hosting guided presentations of the expansion at its booth during the event, which runs from August 26 to August 28. It is currently unclear how the footage shown to attendees will differ from the Opening Night Live presentation, but it’s pretty safe to say there will be more to take in.

The expansion itself is scheduled to launch sometime in 2027 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. No PlayStation 4, Xbox One, or Nintendo Switch versions have been announced, despite the original game being available on those platforms.

Returning to The Witcher 3 for a full expansion more than a decade after its original arrival might have seemed to be a little unexpected, especially with CD Projekt RED already working on the next mainline Witcher game. But, it also just makes sense to have more content leading up to Ciri taking up the mantle, getting everyone that bit more hyped for another story in the incredibly rich world.
