Pokémon Pokopia hits 5 million sales in just over four months
Pokémon Pokopia has officially passed a crazy sales milestone, with Nintendo and The Pokémon Company confirming that the Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive has now surpassed 5 million units sold worldwide.
The stated figure includes both physical and digital versions of the game, with Pokopia reaching the mark just over four months after launching on March 5, 2026.
For a spin-off that swaps traditional battling and creature collecting for cozy life-sim crafting and island restoration, that is a really impressive start.
If you haven’t had chance to play the game yet, Pokémon Pokopia makes you take control of a rather unusual Ditto, using its transformation abilities to restore a desolate land and build up a personalized Pokémon paradise.
As the world becomes more vibrant, more Pokémon arrive, giving you new ways to craft, decorate, explore, and potentially lose several hours to the Animal Crossing-esque loop.
Interestingly, a free update has just been dropped for everyone, adding the new Dive move, coupled with part 1 of the paid Pokémon Pokopia Expansion Pass, titled Bubbly Basin. As you’d expect from the name, this one introduces an underwater town, more Pokémon, new furniture, new food, and extra things to build.
The fact that Pokopia has sold that many copies in less than six months of its lifespan, the aforementioned Version 2.0.0 update, accompanied by Bubbly Basin DLC, could help keep sales momentum going, especially with more Expansion Pass content already planned.
The second DLC is scheduled for late 2026 and will add accessories for Pokémon to wear, while the third is going to come in 2027.
There’s no question that with 5 million sales already banked, free updates rolling out, and paid DLC expanding the world further, Pokémon’s cozy Switch 2 debut looks like it may be the first of many titles in Ditto’s spin-off.
