New retro adventure Galactic Panic lands…. for the Atari ST (but you can play on Windows too)
There has definitely been a recent uptick in the amount of adventure games coming out for retro systems – what’s the point, you may think – hardly anybody has these anymore (not true, I have them all as do plenty of retro gamers)? But with the world of retro emulation being so popular you don’t necessarily need to bust out your Atari ST and copy a ROM to a floppy to play.
Galactic Panic is one such new adventure that looks very much in the style of LucasArts classics of yesterday, especially in its font use.
It’s billed as “A pretty stupid point-and-click adventure in 16 colors,” and its premise is that you have “been recruited to embark on a perilous journey through the galaxy!
The people of planet Zirius 42 are facing an insidious threat, and they need YOU!”
That’s definitely enough of an ’80s plot to get us interested.
Beyond the ROM, which you can use on either real hardware or an emulator, the author also provides a standalone Windows or Linux package that requires only the basics of tech knowledge to get Galactic Panic up and running on your system. If you are planning on running it on original hardware, here are the required specs as per the game’s download site.
