E3 Update: Fahrenheit

Written by Marek Bronstring -

Objective journalism fails me; Fahrenheit is absolutely fricking amazing. Everything about it excited me. Anyone who is a fan of the movie Memento, or the TV show 24, will absolutely love what's being done here.

It is a crime that GameSpot has actually classified the game as "action." The action sequences are there, I won't deny that, but they are not a prevalent part of the game--and in any case, the story development ideas taking place here are revolutionary for adventure games, and gaming in general.

No deal has been signed for North American publishing. VU Games will release the game in Europe in late 2004, and the possibility still exists that VU will also sign the game for a North American release. There's no question, though, that someone will pick this game up, as it's just an extraordinary feat of storytelling.

I probably shouldn't blow everything on a news update, since there will be a full preview very soon, but this is a game that everyone who enjoys storytelling and suspense/mystery will absolutely be dying to play. See where it ranks on the E3 Hype-O-Meter this Saturday.
