The Good
- The game has glimpses of the historical fiction magic of Jensen’s previous work
- core concept is intriguing
- competent voice acting
- colorful, detailed background art
- Robert Holmes’s work on the score is gorgeous as always.
The Bad
- Malachi Rector is bland at best and odious at worst
- supporting cast lacks depth
- a globe-trotting adventure is reduced to small, boring locations
- character animation is distractingly poor
- small graphical glitches abound
- the game ends with a stupidly long and uninteresting cave maze.
Our Verdict
Uneven
A near-equal balance of good and bad that can make a game either fall disappointingly short of its evident potential or be mildly entertaining despite its many failings.
While mildly entertaining at times, Moebius is disappointingly light on the charm, intrigue, and ingenuity that marked Jane Jensen’s earlier work.
