I just got the Brood War expansion for Starcraft (in a charity shop for £1.95)

I really must transfer my save games from my old machine and complete the last couple of Protoss missions on the original now.

Total War: Eras
The American release, it would appear, for some reason, despite it having been bought from a store in Wales. It also has a seriously knackered box, but the contents inside are new, and it only cost me £5.95 as a result.

Picked this up:

So old it's not even a DVD-ROM it's an old PS2 CD-ROM. I've never come across one of these before. This time it's blue instead of the old PS1 black style CDs. Great 2D action, I figure I beat Alien Wars on the SNES it's time for a new challenge... man did I ask for it.

We went to the Trafford Centre and I trolled into Game, so of course I had to come out with something...

King's Quest Collection
Space Quest Collection
Police Quest Collection
Call of Cthulhu

All out of the "2 for £15" section.

VoodooFX 08-25-2007 02:16 PM

My recent acquisitions:

Guilty - Innocent Until Caught 2 (boxed, cd version)
Return of the Phantom (boxed, cd version)

A friend recently gathered some "virtual money"/discounts (or whatever it's called) he was willing to share, so I gladly took the offer ;) Paid about 30€.

Totally awesome!

Gonchi 08-26-2007 08:13 AM

Nice!

Am I the only one who hates the "Games for Windows" frame on top of boxes?

No, you're not alone, it really ruins some nice boxes. And I can't say that i'm all to hyped up about this "Games for Windows"-thing either. Xbox-live for PC for example..

I still got that game. I couldn't get it to run on Windows XP, on my new PC though, so I ended up playing it on my "old" Windows 98 űberbox. Did you get the original manual with this game? I was hunting for mine to prove something on wikipedia, but I couldn't find it :\ I'm certain there is a message in the manual from the creator about the violence and controversy around the game, but since I can't find the manual I can't prove it ;( . It seems like all those manual archives online don't have a copy of this manual either...

I took a leaf out of step's book, and bought Republic: The Revolution in a charity shop for 99p. I tend not to like buying video games second hand, but I made an exception because this was an original release version (not budget), and was cheap.

I really really enjoyed this game! I remember, it had a quite frustrating learning curve but as soon as I got the hang of it, I stuck with it at once.

Unique concept (I usually like playing games that try to give you something different than your ordinary strategy - adventure - sim game), nice graphics, interesting plot with different paths to follow and absolutely brilliant music score.

It's a shame there hasn't been any sequel or another game similar to this, until now.

It was a game I remember reading about ages ago but never got.

Runs in DOSBox under XP (though I might need to tweak to stop the audio stuttering slightly). Still have a 98 machine myself as a backup if needs be.

Sadly no. As with many of my charity shop acquisitions it's just the CDs. If I come across a manual I'll let you know.

Giligan 08-31-2007 03:18 PM

Halo 2

The only reason I bought this game was because I got in an argument with one of my friends over whether or not it had good graphics. He thought it was a great game artistically, I thought it was a crappy game technically, and he insisted I play it before judging it. I was right.

I just flipped through it but I didn't see anything in the manual at all. The bonus footage on the disc doesn't have anything about it either.

RLacey 09-04-2007 02:41 AM

It's not a purchase, but my copy of the Limited Edition of BioShock arrived today.

And I bought Company of Heroes (With Warhammer 40K: Dawn of War) a couple of days ago, and have Resident Evil 4 coming in the post.

I remember the manual I had, had a so called "message from the creator" on the first page(page 1 or 2). It could be that it was a re-release or something... or that they only released the manual with this message in the countries where it was about to get baned, but ah well. Thanks for looking still :)
