Picked them up in a bargain pack since there seem to be a few people around here that reckon they're pretty good.

So what's the deal? Should I play all of them, or give one or two of them a miss?

Dasilva 06-24-2006 11:19 AM

Play them in order, they're all great. :)

RLacey 06-24-2006 01:58 PM

Skip the original; it's horrible.

Sorry, I'm not supposed to say that. But I'm not a huge fan of games that require you to attempt each part of each level about a dozen times so that you time everything correctly. How anyone plays it without an inifinite lives cheat is a mystery to me .

The rest are great, though. Well, Rayman M is a bit lame, but The Great Escape and Hoodlum Havoc are definitely ones to play.

Dasilva 06-24-2006 02:34 PM

Rayman 2 is on every platform, best one was on the Dreamcast hands down.

SoccerDude28 06-24-2006 02:36 PM

I haven't played the original rayman, but rayman 2 is awesome.

And Dasilva, nice choice of games there :)

Kolzig 06-25-2006 01:14 AM

Original Rayman is an ok 2d platformer with very nice and crisp graphics, I have it for Sega Saturn. The second one, The Great Escape is the best Rayman game so far, one of the best games ever made for Dreamcast. :)

simpson_yellow 06-25-2006 02:02 AM

Thanks for the advice guys. I'll start going in order then, but if I end up throwing in the towel on the first one, I'll be sure not to give up on the rest of the series.

How come the Dreamcast version's so special? Is it significantly different to the PC release?

Oh, and what SoccerDude said, Dasilva - a good couple of purchase there. You've got some serious gaming hours ahead with the Command & Conquer collection.

Kolzig 06-25-2006 02:30 AM

Well, I think Rayman 2 was originally made for Dreamcast if I remember correctly? It was later ported for PC etc.

I'm not sure though...

insane_cobra 06-25-2006 03:01 AM

Not really. According to All Game Guide, PC and Nintendo 64 versions came out in 1999 and Dreamcast and PlayStation versions followed several month later, in 2000.

According to them, the Dreamcast version and Rayman 2: Revolution for PS2 come with some extra content:

Fine additions, then, but nothing to write home about.

I've been thinking about getting Rayman Gold and Rayman 2 myself, but I really don't have time to play them. Haven't even played Psychonauts yet, not to mention other 50+ unplayed games sitting on my shelf. :frown:

Oh well, they're cheap and I can't resist a good bargain. :D

For my recently-turned 9-year-old sister. Not sure if it was a good idea. Perhaps I should have bought the other two first, and perhaps I should I should not have bought it used (no manual or 3D-glasses came with mine). I can still return it though.

Kingston is the King, baby

I just bought today:

I don't know, Rayman 2 for the Dreamcast just feels right. I havent played Revolution but I should give it a go and see which is really worth while. When I decide to get a PS2 when its cheap enough. :D

Rayman 2 for the DS is quite fun too.

Jatsie 07-03-2006 11:27 AM

Rayman Revolution was the first game I bought for my PS2 way back in 2000.
I still haven't completed it, hehe.

LimpingFish 07-03-2006 02:07 PM

Tenchu DS for the Nintendo DS.

It's.....not very good.:\

Melanie68 07-08-2006 07:56 PM

I've not played these games yet and I've been wanting to. I've been busy on eBay the past week:

That's a wonderful game except it's boring like hell. I very much wanted to like this game, I really did. But the only amazing thing about it is the design and artwork. But hey - 2 bucks is a fair price.
