I'm not sure if this thread is exclusive to games, but this is game related:

Got this for £0.99 on ebay.

EDIT: Is it just me or is this save system utterly retarded?

I have no idea why it took me so long to get around to buying this.

Spiwak 07-15-2006 06:07 PM

I still haven't beaten it. I'm so close though, I know it.

Dasilva 07-15-2006 06:09 PM

Such filth. :P

Good choice Laceo. I've only recently started to play it properly myself, although I've had it since its PAL release on the Xbox.

As per usual, it's well worth slogging through the missions, if only to unlock all of the territory.

For some reason I hate that game. I love all the other GTA games, but I just didn't like San Andreas at all. I had to copy my friend's memory card so I could fly aircraft and explore the full extent of the gameworld, because I didn't like playing it enough to do many of the missions.

Did you buy the PC version as the image suggests?

The PS2 version had some infuriating faults, for example: I'd be flying along and suddenly crash into seemingly nothing, then several seconds later a tree etc. would materialise where my plane was.

I have it for the Xbox and PC, and it is my least favorite GTA game. I liked GTA 3 the best, although Vice City is right there next to it.

Spiwak 07-15-2006 10:25 PM

Hmm...in retrospect I'd say it's probably my least favorite of the PS2 GTA games. I liked Tommy Versetti and ....guy more than Carl Johnson. And honestly 80s Miami and modern-day New York are much, much cooler than early-90s California. However as far as the gameplay itself goes you can't deny SA, the dating system and the physique/eating system and swimming and the inclusion of rural suburbs. There's certainly a lot more to do, that's for sure. And some characters are great--The Truth and his missions, and the James Woods guy (don't remember his name) was some sheer voiceacting.

I dunno, Vice City's probably my favorite.

I never liked GTA. part 1 i diden't like because of the 'from above view thingy' and i played Vice city for half an hour and then returned it to the store and exchanged it for XIII or Max Payne 2, i don't remember. Mafia on the other hand i thought was really cool, but a bit difficult with the shity saving system.

Yeah. I don't have a PS2 or Xbox.

I'll be interested to see what it's like when I actually install it (my external hard drive should finally be ready tomorrow). I agree that the '90s setting isn't a hugely appealing one, but I'm cautiously optimistic. I may get bored of the missions and download a saved game, though, because I always tend to get stuck about three quarters of the way through the campaign and never manage to unlock the last areas of the game :shifty:.

Well, i had high expectations about San Andreas, but i was dissapointed. The let down wasn't the gameplay or the setting (i found it very attractive, not as attractive as Vice City's or GTA3's setting, but interesting ), i also liked the story (typical for a gta game)... well, i think that means that i liked the game. Yeah, i liked it, but the overall impression it gave me wasnt that satisfying: for example, the gameplay is mostly fun. I loved the ideea that you can win teritories and get respect, but the way you did it was simply stupid. :| And it has many other flaws, but i can't remember them because i've played the game 1 year ago. Another play would refresh my memory. :)

As other GTA games, it's a nice game, but i still think that Vice City is the top of the series.

I just bought Sybera for the nice price of 50 kr. (=£3.69=$6.74= 5.39 Euro)
Now I need to find Syberia 2.

Maybe GTA: SA went beyond the breaking point of rehash and recylce the same content and put another game for the fanboys.
