Well that's a bummer. I'm trying to make these not too difficult, but yea Once a Villain, right on both.

As for your 3., it looks like Autumn Sonata.

As far as I'm concerned, you should. :)

The movie in which the guy starred was linked to a TV series.

Nope. (thanks for pointing it out, though, as I totally didn't see that you had answered :) )

4. The one I thought of was Chris Isaak in Twin Peaks:Fire walk with me but he's FBI not CIA.

CORRECT on #3.

Now, since I was right on #5, here's the new #5:

This movie is about a village where the people follow a strange tradition: when they turn 70 they must go up on top of a mountain and sit there until they die. Two versions of this film have been made, both with the same name. Name the film.

5. Narayama Bushiko? Awesome movie, I saw the 1983 version but I remember very little from it, aside from the beautiful cinematography and top notch acting.

That's correct. I agree the film is incredible. It's one of my Top 100, heh.

Oh, easily in my top 50 ;) I think it was one of the first Japanese films I've ever seen. Anyway, I hereby reinstate my previous (premature) question:

5. Which movie by a famous director takes place entirely on a liferaft?

edit: updated questions, for clarity's sake:

1. Once a Villain's duty (from what I can gather amidst all the confusion?)...

2. What poet appears in an incredibly long movie reciting all 4000+ pages of one of his poems?

3. Spiwak's turn...

4. Which really famous singer got a small part as a CIA agent in a strange (but famous) American movie?

HINT: The movie in which the guy starred was linked to a TV series.

5. Which movie by a famous director takes place entirely on a liferaft?

Lucien21 02-27-2006 12:41 PM

I like how you used Liferaft instead of the movie title Lifeboat.:) Hitchcock.

Once A Villain 02-27-2006 01:17 PM

Wow! #1 is my duty. Totally forgot. Thanks for the reminder jjacob. Ok here goes...

QUESTION #1:

Name the famous trilogy of 1930's French films, adapted from the stage by the original writer, where each film is named after one of the three main characters.

:D Correct. Perhaps it would've been harder had I used lifeboat ;) Awesome movie, awesome director. Definately one of my favourite B&W movies.

5# What actor played the school principal in E.T., only to have his scene cut when Spielberg decided that his presence would be too distracting?

That'd be Mr Indiana Jones himself, Harrison Ford.

Lucien21 02-27-2006 02:09 PM

Correct

playing_games 02-27-2006 02:16 PM

I can't believe I actually got one!

5. At a famous film festival, this Asian director thanked octopi (yes, octopi) along with cast and crew when presented with an award. Name the director and the movie in which octopi played a "controversial" role.

jjacob 02-27-2006 02:24 PM

5. Oldboy? It has to be that or that weird octopus boxing film (yes you heard me) of which I can't seem to remember the title.

edit: oh and the director is ofcourse Chan-wook Park. If that's the correct answer then it'd be because a living octopus was eaten in the (brilliant) film.

Spiwak 02-27-2006 06:27 PM

Easy...

3. Name the movie and the director:
