Il était une fois dans l'Ouest?

... erm, that's one of the Sergio Leone movie, the one with the harmonica playing guy (Bronson), and that would be the first scene... if my shooting in the dark has been lucky.

4. Ok. Which really famous folk singer got a small part as a CIA agent in a strange (but famous) american movie?
Would that be Bob Dylan in Masked and Anonymous?

Once A Villain 01-23-2006 12:00 PM

Is anyone ever planning to let Ninth or Melanie know if they're right or not? I dunno about Melanie's, but I think Ninth is right about his. That does look like a shot from the opening 10 minutes of Once Upon a Time in the West.

Junkface 01-24-2006 01:32 AM

Yeah, Ninth was right (I thought I might make it a little harder by choosing one of the few shallow focus shots from a movie full of great deep focus spectacles, but evidently not.) Sorry I didn't reply earlier, but I just got a new job and have been doing virtually nothing except work and sleep for the last few days.

Uh, no.

I mean, perhaps you're right, but that's not the answer I was waiting for. ;)
Now that I think about it, maybe the "folk" part is misleading people, so et's just say: a famous singer.

So...

3. In which movie is a gay man who owns a pet shop investigated for illegal animal traffic?
Yes, I know it's a weird question.

Melanie68 01-25-2006 07:09 AM

I had a feeling it wasn't right but thought I'd try. :)

Atom Egoyan's Exotica.

I'll be back with a question in a bit, but for now I just got my new DVD of The General. :D

3. Days of Heaven

Thus the thread is saved from oblivion (or is it? :shifty: ). Thanks go to Spiwak for accidentally unblocking my memory with his post in Recent movies seen. :D

UPDATED QUESTIONS:

1. During the final speech of this movie, Gérard Depardieu's character gradually loses his voice. In fact, the actor really was barely able to speak after numerous reshoots, and the director decided his exhausted whisper will work great in said scene. Name the film.

Hint: After giving his moving speech, the character gets killed, in a very specific-to-his-times way.

2. From these clues, name the film: A man collecting insects. A house in a pit with a woman inside. Sweat. Skin. Sex. No way out.

Hint: The film is Japanese.

3. Name this film:

4. Which really famous singer got a small part as a CIA agent in a strange (but famous) American movie?

5. What classic Western had a "Yee Haa scene" that was talked about and imitated by characters in a later film, City Slickers?

2. Teshigahara's Woman in the Dunes

3. Tarkovsky's Stalker

Once A Villain 02-25-2006 07:49 PM

Nice job Spiwak. Now you replace those two questions. :D

jjacob 02-25-2006 08:27 PM

1. Cyrano de Bergerac

5. Oregon Trail?

Spiwak 02-25-2006 08:35 PM

Alright. hm...

2. What poet appears in an incredibly long movie reciting all 4000+ pages of one of his poems?

3. This is probably pretty easy but, Name two multi-plotted movies in which the protagonist's fate depended on catching a train.

EDIT: I was close to putting Cyrano for 1, but didn't since I haven't seen it.
