King's Quest VI and VII have already been mentioned. They both have good multiple endings, especially VI. Another game with multiple endings is The Dig by Lucasarts. Although there are only slight differences between the two endings, it's nice to see Lucasarts adding this nice touch to one of their more atmospheric games.

Does TLE have more than one ending where you can get to Constantinople?

fov 11-05-2004 09:04 AM

What are the multiple endings in KQ7? I only remember one.

(Use spoiler tags, please!)

Zanthia 11-05-2004 10:36 AM

neverhood has 2 endings :)

THayes 11-05-2004 11:21 AM

My mistake. King's Quest VII has chapter variations as opposed to different game endings. It is King's Quest VI that has the different endings.

Oh well. I was hoping for a reason to replay it. :)

If
you're
looking for a game with multi endings,
Arcatera: The Dark Brotherhood.
Not only does it come with 10 possible ways it can end, it has a unique random-play engine. I'm not sure of the technical aspects, but there are unlimited actions you can take, changing the outcome of the game every step of the way! It never plays the same twice. I've been playing it steady since March, 2004, yeah?

Monkey Island II had a weird alternate ending that is really hard to get. You have to complete the game in a certain order under a certain time period. Read Ron Gilbert's comments about it here: http://www.grumpygamer.com/1521308

This link took me to a page about Grumpy Gamer #2 who shares the copyright. I did a search but couldn't turn up the alternate ending page you mention (though I did find this interview that hasn't survived being translated into German and back again too well. Anyone know where I can get Monkey Iceland? :D )

Can you check the address please omloflump. I'd really like to see an alternate MI2 ending :9~

Sorry......

No, you can only get there by train. The game has multiple DEATH endings, and many situations that you don't need to do to finish the game. I wouldn't actually call TLE an adventure with multiple endings.

One of my favorite TLE quotes:

Robert Cath: "Do you mind if I join you?"
Anna Wolf: "That's odd. Is it customary in America to be so forward?"
Robert: "In certain circles it's not unheard of."
Anna: "I must have been moving in the wrong circles. I hope you find somewhere to sit."

Fienepien 11-07-2004 05:07 AM

And this one...

August Schmidt: "Herr Whitney is well-known as a champion of freedom and justice - in countries other than his own."

Robert Cath, seeing your location, I guess you understand serbian... Perhaps you'd be so kind to share some of the serbian dialogue in the game...? Bulgarian is not that different from serbian, but it's a bit hard to get all with all those people speaking so fast :/

If I remember correctly, King's Quest 7 DOES have 2 different endings. If you want to see them go to the \avi directory on the game cd. The different endings are called E108X11.AVI and E208X11.AVI. The endings aren't that spectacular but it's slightly different :P

I can't remember if the Oldie but Goldie  Gold Rush has different endings but the game has 3 different ways to get to the end... Hmmmm I think I just answered my own question...

Haha, I've waited years for someone to ask me this. I'll be glad to. Which dialogue do you need? I understand all of them, but ask me for dialogues just before Vienna (I haven't played the game further, because my CD2 was damaged. I've ordered new one by CDAccess, I hope I will receive it)
Thanks for putting on the dialogue with Anna and Cath, I didn't get: "...it's not unheard of".
I am making the list of dialogues from TLE. I know it sounds crazy, but I got to the first dialogue between Abbot and Cath, and I stopped there, because that dialogue goes very fast. If someone is interested...
The dialogue that is especially funny is the one between Miloš, Vesna and Cath in their room. I laughed when I first heared it, because Vesna speaks so funny things. I could write out the translation... (and give it to you in the morning...-Tatiana)
I also like the dialogue which can be overheared if you stand in front of Miloš's room, after the fight with him.
So, just ask me which dialogue do you need?

YES! Please! I've been asking people at forums for years, here as well, to translate Milos and Vesna for me! Someone said in email that he would, but he never did.

All of them! ;) I can make an educated guess what dear Vesna is saying, but it would be great to have the exact conversation with Milos. It's tantalizing, I only recognize Tyler's name.

It's a great idea to make transcripts of the dialogues. There are so many great lines in The Last Express. I don't remember Robert Cath's exact words, but when he talks to Milos about the Black Hand, he mumbles something like "...would that be the motto of Harvard..." :P

"You talk a great deal for a man who knows so little..."
The way she says it... aahhh... beautiful, dangerous Kahina!

PS: I sure use the word great a lot.

Vel 11-07-2004 09:24 AM

Now we only need someone to translate the Turkish lines. ^_^

I read somewhere that the eunuch tells Cath to "move away from there" when Cath knocks on the door. But I'd sure like to know what he says to the conductor who wants to prepare the beds for the night. :)

The new member that started this thread to introduce himself is marked as located in Turkey/Istanbul. Could be worth asking.
