Is it from GK2 - Von Glower

Manly One 09-22-2010 03:20 AM

Jean, the hotel receptionist from GK3.

Correct, I can still hear him say that with that funny accent and the "need" being overpronounced.

Really funny, not so flattering for the French though:D

DustyShinigami 09-23-2010 04:57 AM

Ah, of course it is!

:pan:

Only in an adventure gaming forum would you see a sentence like this. :D

Lol ^^ amen to that.

Brimstone 09-26-2010 09:10 PM

Well how else would you describe something like that to somebody who wasn't familiar with the event?

Exactly the way you did, I just think it's hilarious :)

Shany 09-27-2010 04:35 AM

So... how about a new quote, Manylone?

p.s. I'm still working on my audible quotes... just very slowly.

Manly One 09-27-2010 03:38 PM

This is more than likely not exactly right - it's been a while...

"My scalp is lovingly massaged by the finest oils in all the Caribbean..."

Should be easy, I think.

Brimstone 09-28-2010 02:50 AM

That's got to be from MI3. The highlander barber.

harald 09-28-2010 01:50 PM

I think Captain Rottingham is the one who says that line. But you got the game and the scene right, so I'd guess you're the winner. Unless we're both wrong.

Manly One 09-28-2010 04:03 PM

Harald gets the point for guessing the name of the character who says the line.

Brimstone, half a point for placing the scene.

Harald, you're up.

Brimstone 09-28-2010 07:03 PM

Dang and i had a good one ready to go too.

harald 09-30-2010 09:06 AM

I feel bad now. :P You go ahead, Brimstone. I can't think of anything especially interesting at the moment.

Brimstone 09-30-2010 02:02 PM

This is a long one and I have to clip out one word to not give it totally away.

"I can't read that! What are you asking me to do here? I... I can't... I have... I have standards! I'm a professional spokesperson! I happen to be the voice of the Allied car dealers of Banning!"

A totall and utter guess: Full Throttle

Brimstone 09-30-2010 03:59 PM

Nope sorry

Kurufinwe 09-30-2010 06:18 PM

The narrator in Space Quest 6?

(I don't think it's that, but I think it's from a game I've played, even though I can't seem to remember which...)

Brimstone 10-01-2010 04:31 AM

Nope, that's not it either.

Kurufinwe 10-01-2010 07:38 PM

This is driving me crazy, because I'm certain I've played this game. How about the narrator in Al Emmo? Or in some Al Lowe game (LSL6?)?

(And yet I have the impression that line should be said with a British accent, but I can't think of any character that would fit the bill... Argh.)

Kurufinwe 10-01-2010 07:46 PM

New guess! The TLJ bloopers? (I actually believe this one could be right!)

EDIT: Bah, just listened to those on youtube, and it's not it. :frown:

GarageGothic 10-01-2010 11:10 PM

That sounds damn familiar, King's Quest V, no? (those who haven't watched the finale of Pawdugan's longplay, do so now - the good stuff starts around the 10 minute mark)

Brimstone 10-02-2010 03:01 AM

I'd have to say Kuro is awfully close but have to be more specific. I will give a small hint only if somebody can place the scene. You have to do something really disgusting according to the character's line of thinking to get this quote. BTW you won't find this quote on any walkthroughs since it isn't part of any standard conversation to progress the game.

Kurufinwe 10-02-2010 08:36 AM

Ever since you posted this quote, I've been hearing it very distinctly, spoken by a British voice that I couldn't place. So today I went through my list of completed adventure games, and when I reached the letter D, it struck me: it's Eric Idle, isn't it? In one of the Discworlds, probably the second one since I've replayed it recently. I have no idea what action triggers this. Maybe something as silly as asking him to describe some ugly character, like the fortune teller. I don't know... I don't think I'll be able to remember more than that.

Or maybe it's not at all Eric Idle, or even a British character, and I'm just going crazy...

Brimstone 10-02-2010 10:54 AM

Nope, not Eric the Idle

Kurufinwe 10-02-2010 01:26 PM

Argh. And I was so proud of myself for thinking I had figured it out... :frusty:

Brimstone 10-02-2010 02:14 PM

i think i may have come up with a stumper. after 2 more guesses i'll post another hint.

SuperEdy 10-02-2010 02:15 PM

Since Kurufinwe is close, maybe Torin's Passage, another game by Al Lowe

diego 10-02-2010 02:17 PM

And i'm gonna go with Love for Sail

skeeter_93 10-03-2010 06:40 AM

Starship Titanic?

Brimstone 10-03-2010 06:42 AM

Need the scene

The person that gets it right chooses the next line. Exactly the same process as the adventure scene game.

Someone changed the rules? If you want the exact scene we'll stay here for eternity :D

Brimstone 10-03-2010 12:20 PM

ok ok diego gets it. Kuru had it but he had too many games listed which isn't fair. I was trying to give Kuru a chance and try to keep it fair. BTW the scene is triggered by trying to look at Peggy's chest.

diego 10-03-2010 05:11 PM

Sorry Brimstone, i couldn't place it but after Kurufinwe mentioned Al Emmo and Al Lowe games and with your hints i knew it was narrator in LS7.

Next one:

How are you getting on?

It's a rotten, stinking world out there.

DustyShinigami 10-04-2010 01:34 AM

Simon the Sorcerer II.

"Iron Maiden!! Excellent!!"

Fantasysci5 10-04-2010 06:47 AM

Is that the new quote? If your guess was right, I'll guess "Blackstone Chronicles".

diego 10-04-2010 09:22 AM

Monkey 4, while in prison

DustyShinigami 10-04-2010 11:14 AM

Correct.
