Place that quote!

I thought of a new game, don't know if it's been done before. Let's see if it's of interest. It's simple, someone writes a line of dialogue from a game and we have to guess which game it's from. The person that gets it right chooses the next line. Exactly the same process as the adventure scene game. Using youtube to find clips from games for searching dialogue is handy. I'll get the ball rolling with an easy one. One that annoyed me a lot. :)

"Maybe if I try with this ... or I could try with that ... no, sorry, I can't do it!"

Psychocandy 06-09-2010 08:31 AM

*shudder* Belief and Betrayal?

Roman5 06-09-2010 08:43 AM

Correct. Your turn :)

Psychocandy 06-09-2010 09:14 AM

"... Every port I go I drop her, but she always comes back to me!" ;)

tsa 06-09-2010 09:36 AM

Grim Fandango!

This is one I remember clearly =)

"I have just locked an open door?!.....strange, yet symbolically compelling."

Grim Fandango again, Manny in the letter room place. I always loved how well GF was written.

"I'm innocent! I'm American!"
"Can't make up your mind eh!?"

Broken Sword 1

tsa 06-10-2010 08:29 AM

Now for a hard one:

"I wonder what kind of flowers these are?"

And that is Gabriel Knight 2 - The Beast Within, right?

tsa 06-10-2010 08:50 AM

You are good Luna! Correct in one guess!

Luna Sevithiainen 06-10-2010 09:42 AM

Yay :D
Here's a new one, a bit easy I think, but hey, we are only just getting this thread started :P

"A prince it is? I see. And I am lord of this dusty path!"

Little Writer 06-11-2010 12:06 AM

A total guess, in which I'll probably make a fool of myself: King's Quest 6?

Intense Degree 06-11-2010 02:51 AM

Another total guess; Conquests of the Longbow?

KasiaD 06-11-2010 05:08 AM

Monkey Island 1?

Great game btw :)

gray pierce 06-11-2010 07:02 AM

Robin Hood?

Guessing cause of your avatar

Edit: Sorry not called Robin Hood called Conquest of the Longbow and that's been mentioned before so disregard this post
It's because of that stupid movie

You guessed it right :)
(Choosing a quote from Conquests of the Longbow would be a little bit too easy apparently :P)

Your turn, Little Writer.

Sughly 06-12-2010 03:29 PM

This was awesome til the quotes stopped coming... *nudges Little Writer*

Trunkyo 06-12-2010 04:45 PM

Maybe we can apply the same unwritten rules like in the AG Scene Game? That thread regularly starts and stops frequently depending on the difficulty of the current scene or if the correct guesser forgets to post a new one. :)

tsa 06-12-2010 07:17 PM

I have one:

"Here's a little tidbit our government boys missed."

D.C. 06-12-2010 09:02 PM

Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atantis. I think. ;)

tsa 06-12-2010 11:21 PM

Sorry, wrong answer.

A hint: it's not actually a quote from the game... :)

D.C. 06-13-2010 12:07 AM

It's so familiar to me, I just can't think of it.

SharonB 06-13-2010 06:46 AM

The Pandora Directive. If I'm right, someone else can post. Thanks.

tsa 06-13-2010 07:26 AM

Yes! You're right Sharon!

We're still waiting for Little Writer, but he's out voting today and presumably watching the outcome of the elections, so I guess he will not be here today.

Little Writer 06-13-2010 10:57 PM

Sorry, weekends are terrible for me regarding computer access.

Here's my new one:

Quote:

You know what they say: "To save the world, you have to push a few old ladies down the stairs."

rayvio 06-13-2010 11:23 PM

day of the tentacle

Little Writer 06-14-2010 01:23 AM

Easy but a fun one, I guess ;)

rayvio 06-14-2010 01:30 AM

wording is probably a little off but here goes...

"good thing I can hold my breath for ten minutes, it's in the job requirements for any adventure game hero"

zobraks 06-14-2010 01:36 AM

Guybrush Threepwood said something like that in The Secret of Monkey Island.

rayvio 06-14-2010 02:01 AM

he did, but that's not the quote. it is however a reference to it, just from a different character in a different game

KasiaD 06-14-2010 02:09 AM

is it Grim Fandango?

Little Writer 06-14-2010 02:23 AM

I think it's Indy in Fate of Atlantis, the diving sequence off Thèra during the Team Path, after Kerner cuts his hose. Not totally sure, since I feel that comment is a bit out of character.

skeeter_93 06-14-2010 02:44 AM

Was it Runaway Twist of Fate?

Simon the Sorcerer 2?

Sughly 06-14-2010 05:34 AM

Yeah I was too late, it's Runaway I'm sure

tsa 06-14-2010 09:27 AM

I think I have heard it somewhere else, probably in one of the Broken Sword games but I'm not sure which one.

we have a winner! there may have been similar jokes in other games, I can't remember but this is the one I was quoting at least

Origami 06-14-2010 02:59 PM

If you played the game this is an easy one:

"Here you go baby, dinner time!"
